younger hungry route

Is the way to go IMO.

Look at the current landscape, everyone would agree Georgia/Oregon/OhioSt are “Top5 programs”…. All hired coordinators

It’s stupid because you don’t and can’t fire a coach who is 5-2 after 7 games with a $53 million buyout. People act like this is PSU or Florida. Those programs were sinking like a rock. Let him go 7-5, then he goes 8-4-7-5 and you fire him for $42 mil.

But even that is a slippery slope. This is like Les. It is a shitty place to be with a program. We are still a good team with a hard schedule so you lose games. Hell, it is unlikely, but LSU could beat TAMU somehow…then you really can’t justify it

And how much will it cost if we keep him?

Why does it matter? This is a message board. He may never get fired but it's fun to think about it and for the record I think there's a nonzero chance.

While you are having fun recruits are turning their heads, players are getting disgusted with fans, and media is making the program a punching bag for more clicks. No harm there.

I think the issue for LSU is what if they don’t fire him? What if he comes back with some portion of a new staff and we struggle to get the money to reload out of the portal. Maybe it would be more realistic to say we struggle to upgrade at the most dire positions of need this offseason. What’s the outlook for the next few years then? You don’t have to be a genius to see a soft team with even less talent than this team. What does that get you in the SEC? 5-7? Worse?

Well you may need to adjust that $$ for a new coach. Cignetti just got $11 mil and he hasn't really done anything except have 2 winning seasons in an easy conference. Word is $15 mil is the number for Kiffen. LSU will either have to pay or go the younger hungry route but that has it's own risks. You may have to stay with Kelly with him getting a new OC and OL coach but even that will be hard if they aren't sure he's even going to be there the next year.

Why are you trying to shite on my Texas Whopper?

Lane isn't getting 15 million right now. If he wins the NC at Ole Piss this year, he could command north of 13 which is what Kirby is making. That isn't happening though.

It would surpass 120 Million.

You just making up numbers? How much exactly do you think our roster costs? The buyout of Kelly and the staff is around 60 million, and they won’t necessarily get rid of the entire staff. And Kelly’s buyout is over the life of his contract, or 6 years, not all at once

The roster does not have a 60 million dollar payroll

There’s no back and forth. 90% think BK is in over his head.

Sorta he is not due a lump sum so it would be spread out over 3 years the asst coaches get paid up front so that's 10million a new team is 20 million new coach is 12 million new asst.coaches 10 million, Kelly 17 million
So year 1 would be 72 million
Year 2 62 million
Year 3 62million.
Year4 42 million Kelly off the books

This is exactlyyyy why anyone wanting the best for our program needs to hope we get shellshacked this weekend. We get a win and then it basically means the can will be kicked that much longer with BK. Frickkk that. If we lose out, I don’t care how much his buyout is at that point, there is a 100% chance he is fired. Bottom line and end of discussion. And I will be happy to eat these words. But I won’t. Anyone arguing the buyout is too much is greatly underestimating the financial resources the university has to figure things out. You take the financial L and fricking move on from the loser who’s only doing more damage to the program the longer he is here. Then let it be a huge lesson to not frick up again and sign new coaches to massive 100 million 10 year contracts.
