Bower’s fumble should have been called a targeting

Looks like a shoulder to me so no. I disagree

Nope, but per Browns ruling, it wasn’t a catch.

Not a clue, but the whole basis for the rule is to promote player safety. It has done nothing in that respect. Ejecting the player and suspending him for the next game also serves no purpose.

I don’t think that was the play where, but there was one where the Clemson defender speared the receiver and ended up going down immediately. He was down for a while and they came out and helped him off the field. He looked concussed.
I thought that spearing was now called targeting no matter where you hit the other player or if he was defenseless or not. The idea is to protect the defensive player from his own mistakes. All of those should at least be a personal foul.

That’s just football

If that’s your definition of targeting they could call it on every play; that’s football.

I dont think your vision is very good if you think thats helmet to helmet, in addition to your spelling

No. The only thing you can maybe argue is that he didn't complete the catch and football move. That's NOT targeting, and I'm the idiot that start the ref hate thread.

Idiotic take. The defender was in perfect position to make a play and did. He was trailing as the ball was being tucked which allowed him to slide a hand into the pocket and punch it out. Unfortunately for our guy he was victimized by a good play but very few guys hold on to the ball here

Moscona pointed out that while folks are focused on Bauer's fumble, Bauer got up and hustled to make a likely TD saving tackle.
That's a stat that will do little for his resume and do little to get folks to forget the fumble, but that's the sort of players you have to have to win big games. No one plays mistake-free football. Great players overcome them in real time.
