Listening to Coach O interviews throughout the week, it’s clear that the competition between the 2 is very close and he even said both will play. Who starts is pretty irrelevant. It will be interesting to see if one of them is a “gamer” that can separate on the big stage.

He said the same thing about Etling/Brennan and Burroe/Brennan. May not be as close as he's saying it is.

You may be right, but the fact that he said both will play, leads me to believe that it is in fact very close. He also said you “could have flipped a coin” speaking about who would be the starter.

But I hope you’re right, as another poster pointed out earlier in the week, “usually if neither QB separates himself, it’s not because they are both playing great”

As they should. You never know what's gonna happen once they get into the game. One may crumble and the other may be a gamer. Supposedly Burrow wasn't great in practice like he was in the games. Some guys are just better once the bright light is shined on them.

According to Orgeron, the decision to start Finley over Johnson in place of injured Myles Brennan was so close it could have been made by the flip of a coin.

Etling and Brennan did share time early in 2017. Brennan’s poor performance against Troy was a dagger.

The plans all along were to redshirt Brennan in 2018, which did happen.

It's not about who will start, pay attention to who the coaches have in the game to FINISH. The one that finishes the game will more than likely be the backup to Brennan when he returns.

I understand the sentiment but if TJ comes out and moves the team effectively, he should stay in as long as things are clicking. We've watched or RB's and even WR's rotate and it's really hard to find a rhythm that way.

most of what O has said has turned out to be bs. I don't put any stock into anything he says.

You mean like 2011 when we won the SEC and went to the NC game? Where people clamored for a QB substitution in tbat game?

Might as well. Let’s get them both some snaps and see who is ahead at this point.

If it’s really close at all, I agree, you don’t know who will step up and bring it in a real SEC game situation. I say you go 2 drives each a piece, unless someone is looking like a Heisman candidate out there(not likely)

Why even come here to speculate? I am actually looking forward to seeing something out of either of them because it's new and I have no idea what to expect. Yes it could be terrible, but we're not winning the west this year. Happy to get some reps for either young QB in a year that doesn't count toward their eligibility.

Why not speculate? But I agree, I like Myles Brennan but this is exciting.

If we were actually good this year I'd be dreading this. Instead I'm looking forward to seeing the young guys get after it.

I still think the starter when Brennan leaves is Nussmeier though.
