Whiney miraculously cured at halftime of Peach Bowl pretty much sums it up and capped off that era.

That's funny. Reminds me of Reggie Robinson not being able to catch a cold late 1999. Then Ro comes in at the half against #10 Arkansas and Reggie plays like an All-American.

I don't think race had anything to do with it. I just think a majority of the players like Rohan much better than Booty. He was just a much more likeable guy.

I'll never forget the 2000 Peach Bowl when we were dead to rights against Ga Tech. Down 14-3 at half IIRC and came back to win 28-14. Ro came in at half and played lights out, Josh Reed stepped up, defense was great, and Winey took the cast off his broken hand and was vital. Of course I drink too much and maybe some of that info is a little hazy. :)

I was 10 that season, though i had been going to game most of my life the 2000 season was the first year i understood what was going on. I was on team Rohan all year, it was clear he made the team better. Booty was a chump.

1999 was my first year at LSU, and to this day I have a man crush on Rohan Davey and despise Josh Booty.

Booty was possibly the greatest high school QB ever. He was also a first round pick in baseball and got a World Series ring. Not really surprising that he was cocky.

I suppose...but when your GM calls you "the worst first round pick" he's ever seen and you never bat above the Mendoza line, a huge heaping dose of humility is probably appropriate.

For the record, I liked Booty. Seemed like he loved the Tigers. Can't blame a kid for chasing a million dollar signing bonus. But I hope his ego wasn't as inflated as many make it out to be.

Booty Brothers/Rohan Davey/Racism Issues around 1999-2000

Saban was quoted in 2000 as saying Booty practiced so much better than Davey and that's why he got the starts.

But Ro always played better in the games. Guess he had an extra gear with adrenaline.

Josh Reed made 2 incredible plays back to back -
(1) A TD catch in the back of the end zone while dragging his toenail inside the chalk - just before his elbow hit the ground out of bounds.
(2) The 2 point conversion catch and run where he ran over three GT guys to get in the end zone.

Also, a big example of the Booty 'me first' attitude was in I think '99 when LSU was in postion to beat Bama and Booty tried to run it in from the Bama 2 near the end of the game, when he had 2 LSU receivers wide open in the back of the end zone.....

LSU didn't have any wide receivers during your timeframe, don't you know Craig Nall was running routes

Most fans wanted Josh over Ro...then the Auburn game happened. After that, it seemed like the staff(s) just wanted to force Booty into the starting job. Maybe he practiced better than Ro? But he was no gamer, that's for sure.

I completely forgot about the 2 PT conversion. Guess the toe tap catch overshadowed it for me.

Strange as it seems, it was the 90's version of Jefferson/Lee.

Which Auburn game are you referring to?

The UAB lose was when i remember most people saying frick booty. He sucked the houston game too and that was the first game i remember Rohan in.

Booty was pretty productive that year under Saban, he catches more shite than he likely deserves. He just ended the year with 1.5 shite performances (Ark and the first half against GT)

Ya, i am avoiding some school work by going through of their game starts. His weren't as bad as i remembered (i was 10/11) but stats don't tell you everything. The team had Rohan's back.

That is correct. Most of that season, Nall was playing WR and Josh Reed was sitting the bench.

What a coaching staff.

My fraternity brother was a walk on kicker. He used to tell me how Booty never worked out with the team. He would always be with his little group of coaches and that was it.
