As a corporate raider, T. Boone Pickens shouldn't be preaching for anyone.

Yeah, I remember hearing that he buys companies, breaks them up, and sells them piece by piece leaving a lot people without jobs.

Should LSU play Oklahoma State for the BCS crown, the media could really play this up & make it an interesting story line.

that's not entirely true. he would buy companies that were undervalued (poorly run), and reorganize them to run more efficiently. in other words, he would fire some employees, but not all.

he would also sell off non-income generating departments. but mostly wanted to maximize profits.

So now Boone wants us to believe he leveraged Les out with his God-like influence....

He did. Les wasn't a T-Boone man and knew that he was on borrowed time. He left for greener pastures when he could.

I watched a piece (maybe 50 minutes) on T-Boone and OSU and I felt sorry for the spineless people at OSU who repeatedly bent-over and took one for the all-mighty dollar. If I remember correctly, he got one of his friends the AD job there just because that is what he wanted.

Les' handling of Lee during good times (benching him in spite of solid performance) and bad (throwing him under the bus when he was throwing INTs) could be considered poor character.

LINK

"Pickens relayed the story was speaking at a luncheon Wednesday with Switzer in the audience. He described an email he received from Switzer after Oklahoma beat Texas 55-17 earlier this month.

Oklahoma State was set to face the Longhorns the following week and Switzer encouraged the Cowboys not "beat them as bad as the Sooners did because we want to keep Mack Brown as coach — we want somebody that both of us can beat"

Like it or not Pickens is the face of OSU Athletics therefore he shouldnt be degrading another coach. The attitude goes all the way down to Gundy " the man". Gundy not allowing Miles back to say goodbye to the team says all about that program in stillwater.

Would be true if Miles took a job as the OU HC. That said, the OSU folks I've heard speak were very complimentary of Miles.
..Well Saban coaching at Bama is about as bad or worse NC...

All of that is perfectly fine. My beef with Pickens is that he was a greenmailer . Pickens and other raiders like "Sir" James Goldsmith would take a position in a company and then threaten to launch a hostile takeover unless they were paid a premium for their shares. It was modern piracy until Congress effectively banned it by making the tax so punitive no one would do it. Everybody lost--existing shareholders, management, employees--except for the greenmailer. Anyway, for him to attack anyone's character takes a lot of chutzpah.

Rich men do not like rejection, when Les left it was a direct slap at T. Boone. Les said in effect "you don't own me".

I don't remember exactly all the ins and outs of how he handled the situation with oklahoma st when he left there to come to lsu, but from the very little i've heard from their fans, i think they felt like he lied to them and said he hadn't talked to lsu (every coach does this when they're taking a new job) and felt like he was dishonest to them about everything

Sort of how I feel about $aban. I don't blame them for being pissed but then again, who cares?

No need to look to Pickens and OSU fans. Miles goes 10-0 for the first time in decades and LSU fans get their panties in a wad because he doesn't start Lee. We are plenty good at criticizing Miles without outside help. There are times that I think success is the worst thing that can happen for the LSU fan base.

OSU needs to worry about not being OU's bitch every year. I have a feeling that high flying offense of OSU will get beat next week. Until they stop being an instant 'W' on OU's schedule, STFU TBP.

Pretty sure that blog is run by a poster on this site named bayourant

I've gotten into it with him a few times on the political forum here. Seems like a pretty friendly guy even though he's clearly insane.
