Would LSU be considered a blue blood in football? If so what differentiates it as such, or if not what more would the program have to do to reach that status?

Decent show, though Donnie Wahlberg is slightly annoying at times.

Google either "is lsu a football blue blood" or "who are the blue bloods in college football."

What you're going to find is that most either include LSU or they say LSU needs another championship and/or Heisman that were written before 2019.

We dont have enough votes in the AP (region)and are small market relative to the “blue bloods”. I think i rather be red blood, screw em. We better than all but Bama since 2000.

I don't think so. No nattys in the last 41 years of the 20th century when college football went mainstream and became the 2nd most popular sport after pro football.

Blue bloods were made in the 60s 70s and 80s other than Notre Dame who earned theirs the first half of the century. LSU was on average just a 10-20 team from the 58 natty to Y2K and one awful decade to end the century.

Nebraska is one blue blood that has lost its status and will not get it back. Penn State may be heading that way too along with Michigan. It's starting to feel like Ohio State is the only blue blood north of the Mason Dixon line.

As for teams of this century, it's a short list with Alabama, Ohio State, LSU and maybe Clemson and Florida.

It's just that the term "blue blood" gets confused with the dinosaur blue bloods that are no good.

Michigan
Nebraska

That's the first thought that comes to mind.

Also, blue blood, to me reminds me of the fat rich kid whose dad gets him into the fundraiser circuit where he gets to ask the coach a question that was handed to him.

He also weirdly massages peoples shoulders while he walks up behind them (yes, i know this guy and the term Blue Blood is now undesirable)

Go for the term "new money" instead.

Yeah pretty much. Blue bloods might be USC, Texas, OK, Ohio St, Bama, ND. Nebraska, maybe Tenn, Penn St used to be but who knows if they still are.

LSU would be in the new money mix with teams like Florida, Clemson, FSU.

Yes they should , LSU it’s in the top 10 or close to it in every major category... plus in my opinion it should be like the top 15 teams should be considered Blue bloods, then of course there’s the top of the Blue Bloods. Traditionally Over the last 100 or so years , LSU should be considered a blue blood. They’re just not the elite BB the top 5 programs historically.

The old Blue Bloods are:

Alabama
Ohio State
Oklahoma
Michigan
Nebraska
Penn State
USC

New ones are:

Alabama
Ohio State
Michigan- but falling out if another decade they suck
LSU
Clemson
Oklahoma
Nebraska- I think have fallen out but give them a decade and they are officially out

Honorable Mention:

Fla. State
Texas
USC
Penn State- fell out already

You're missing Notre Dame in the old blue bloods category

Yeah, and Miami's five titles have to put it on the list somewhere as well.

If the 2000's determined blue bloods LSU would be in and Tenn, Neb , texas , Mich would be out . But blue blood status goes way back and LSU before 2000's was basically ok but the 90's killed the LSU brand. Had the 90's not happened i believe would be blue blood status today. If we make the championship in the next few years then i believe LSU should be blue blood status but 5-5 type seasons aint helping.

If you have to ask the question, then you probably aren’t in the club. That’s the whole idea of being blue blooded.
