Can someone confirm whether this is a real thing?

Doesn’t matter if it was real, it started a conversation.

They should’ve said clipping.

He did push the Arkansas player in the back but it seemed to be a cheap call. The missed facemask on our WR committed by Arkansas was worse and potentially changes the course of the game.

I did not understand the call.

Even if he did push in the back, how is that a “block” in the back? He’s not on the receiving team and therefore isn’t blocking for anyone

that was my question.

Furthermore, since it wasn't a block, it seemed the ruled it unsportsmanlike... and then proceeded to call it a block also.

That one "block" appears to be the source of both penalties on the play... because it can't be a block.... therefore it was unsportsmanlike. But they penalized both.

The unsportsmanlike penalty was called for standing over and taunting the punt receiver. It was the correct call.

The unsportsmanlike call was after the play was over, someone stood over their player

ok, thanks. clears that up for me.

Then for the block in the back how about this theory (any rules guru's out there):

It's a block in the back because the receiving team hasn't received the ball yet?

It is a live ball and until they establish possession technically we are still on offense (just the 4th down).

This is a good thought. Never thought of it like that. That’s the only rational thing I’ve heard so far

Can't believe they didn't hit 85 with taunting after their first TD. That was ridiculous.

So glad they were able to see that "taunt" after they were unable to see the guy in the endzone do it much more egregiously to our player!!
