the uncomfortable truth is there is nothing baker or the coaches defensively could've done. You could've had Bill Belichick and Parcellls coaching this defense. We flat do not have the dudes to line up with an offense full of 5 stars like Alabama. Pppl can scream " Vandy contained them" except they didn't Bama scored 35 points and had over 400 yards of offense despite 2 turnovers. Our linebackers are not fast enough, our safeties do not have the instincts nor are they fast enough, DL tried their hardest but were getting manhandled, corners are too slow and were lucky as hell Williams dropped a bomb because he dusted our best guy in Zy. This was an outmanned, overmatched unit.

I am dead serious when I say if the highest-rated defensive players from the 2025 class were able to suit up last night they would've given us a better shot than the majority of the starters out there at lb, CB, and safety.

Milroe is very good. but that's just the thing...we knew he's good, and we knew he was going to run it and WE STILL COULD NOT STOP HIM

could he not play contain on the ends and blitz the A gaps? or vice versa? if the DT's could not maintain gap integrity? looked as bad as the shite plan house threw at him last year.

I don’t think so at all. AL game plan was very simple - Milroe runs when pressured. Milroe just runs. And their offense didn’t wasn’t particularly productive either. Just score touchdowns is all.

I don't think this was on Baker honestly. The front seven just played really bad. I love Weeks but he has a long ways to go as a LB. Penn just completely lacks instinct at times while Weeks relies almost entirely on his athleticism and instincts.

LSU just lacks talent. It's that simple really. Yes, it's on BK.

The linebacker and safeties are not good enough

100% this. Baker had the correct scheme. The linebackers and safeties are supposed to make those plays and they just can't.

Penn is slow to diagnose the play and even slower running so by the time he realizes Milroe is running he can't do anything about it.

Weeks tried but he just isn't fast enough to spy Milroe correctly. If he gets to him unblocked he can tackle him but he has to fight through an oline block most of the time and can't get there.

Gilbert, Burns, and Ryan. These guys are absolute liabilities out there. Wrong angles half the time and the other half they miss the tackle.

I have faith in Baker but he needs a year or two to get some actual talent in there. Swinson and Weeks are the only two guys they have that continually make plays. Oh and Alexander. They have 3 guys that are consistently good. The rest are subpar with a few of them making some good plays here and there.

I think the defensive tackles are average at technique and smaller than you'd like. Credit to the coaches for just getting what they've got from that position, on paper it looks even worse.

Penn doesn't have the physical tools to be elite and Weeks doesn't have the experience.

The safeties are all trash, they all take bad angles and can't tackle to save their lives. Hard to blame all of that on coaching as they've looked the same with several different coaches.

There's a gaping hole in the middle of the field at all times with these players and smart coaches with talent can exploit that.

I think he was more worried about WR Williams more than Milroe. Why? I don't know. Until we can tackle one on one, running QB's will destroy us.

I would have our DE, LB's, DB's all tackling (a scout team member) on one on one situations for most of the practices until we show on the field some improvement.

That screen pass on the 2nd drive is what I’m talking about. He makes the defense move one way and the play goes another. That’s creative. It’s not super genius, but creative. It works very well vs an attacking defense. Same with handing off multiple times to RB then letting Milroe run.
