That is a dumb take Coach.
How do you know? Durham is a freshman, and it’s very likely that he is making stupid mistakes and blowing assignments. Maybe the offense is very limited when he is in the game, and if they tried to run that for a full game the other team would figure us out. We don’t know.
I’ll tell you what I do know. Kelly knows five times what any two of us knows, plus he wants to win more than we do. If he is holding Durham back there is a good reason.

Pass protection blocking assignments are probably the most difficult job for a running back at the college level. It's a big transition from high school to college. Williams is obviously the best at pass pro in the group of RBs.
Durham will get better at it. Right now defenses will key on the pass when Williams is in and if Jackson or Durham are in they will key in on the run. When Durham becomes good at pass protection his running production will increase too.

Durham obviously has skills the others dont. Elite skills.
People said the exact same thing about Kaleb Jackson last year.

He's strictly a north south guy.

well let’s run Durham before he saints a bunch of weight and is slower

He didn't say that. You're being an emotional little drama queen.

Williams will always have a role on this team. His pass protection is good and he is a solid short yardage back with his compact build and his ability to keep his legs moving.
Kaleb Jackson did not touch the ball after the first drive of the 2nd half, it was exclusively Durham and Williams. I expect it to remain that way and for Durham to get the majority of carries if he keeps running anything like he did on Saturday.

People here have done that going back to Saban.
The press conference is not a coaches autobiography/papal confession. The fixation some have with remarks made to the media, where the process itself is viewed as a necessary evil is really strange.

You've got Williams that may not be the most talented, but he has the knowledge, he has the trust of the coaches. There isn't going to he a guy while Williams is still here. He's not going to get relegated until Durham has the knowledge to be trusted on every down. Even Fournette wasn't THE guy his freshman year.

The problem with the running game is the OL, period.

Coaches need to rely on pure talent when its there and stop over analyzing things
That may be true in some instances but talent only gets you so far.
At RB you have to know the pass protection.
Otherwise it doesn’t matter how good Durham is talent wise, defenses will know that if he’s in the game it’s not a pass.

I mean Josh Williams didn’t pick up a single blitz saturday while giving us 20 yards in 10 attempts

Durham is a true freshman 3 games in, did some of you expect Kelly to come out and say we're handing the ball off to him 25 times a game coming up or something? They arent stupid, they saw his ability and will work him in more now. He's not suddenly going to play 75% of the snaps though when we have Williams who is a do it all veteran RB and Jackson who they are trying to get going some.
Could make a similar statement regarding Ju’juan Johnson
He came in and looked good vs Nicholls but don’t see the field after his TD and DNP bs SC

Johnson wasn’t even trying to play RB 3 weeks ago.
he likely only has certain packages at the moment. i doubt he can play a full drive

No they never played, coached, or been on a team of any significance. They either bet LSU-6.5 or looked at stats and highlights. They also do not understand pass protection, schemes, or defensive schemes. They think that CBK, Sloan, and FW doesn’t see these kids everyday, know their personality, and have not recruited these individuals for the better part of 2 years. These are knee jerk young couch coaches that saw him break a 29yd run and thought how does nobody know he’s not on the team.
He will carry more DUH, but show me how many plays he was in there pass protecting ONE that’s it. Besides there’s NO WAY that other teams won’t break down film, see what plays he ran on, see what formations he was in when we ran him. If he gets to Ole Miss and Alabama and TXam and CBK is running 25 times a game Do u honestly think he avgs 9ypc no. CBK said he was THE GUY Saturday but did not crown him. He gave him the Game Ball and praised him highly, quit acting like he doesn’t like him or think he’s not good. It’s Stupid

1 RB can not take all the snaps, duh

It's sad if they can't see he's the best option.
