Direct quotes.

It's like some of you have never managed. When something is going wrong, it's on the leader. When things are going correctly, it's a team effort/the employees are doing well.

Ultimately, Kelly is the top of LSU football, so all the good and bad boils down to him.

Sloan is also doing what he has to do with a qb that is injured.

Confirms what most thought, that he was playing with some type of injury. Even for him, he’s been wildly inaccurate and struggling to push the ball down the field.

Thats hard to do with:

Oline thats still trying to gel
Injured Qb that can't throw deep right and you definitely dont want tucking it now
Going up against some really good fronts
Moore goes down with an injury

I agree , I'm satisfied with what he said. He had his reasons and knows we can't do that in October and November.

Except that he did a couple of times on Saturday and the messaging going into that game was that the staff had told Nuss that they wanted him to run more often when advantageous.

1st downs from the game.

1st Half
Run for 6 yards
Pass for 7 yards
Incomplete Pass
Incomplete Pass
Run for 2 yards
Pass for -3 yards
Run for 2
Run for 2
Run for 7
Run for 3
Run for 5
Incomplete Pass
Run for 6

2nd Half
Run for 1
Pass for 31 yards
Run for 8 yards
Pass for 65 yards
Pass for no gain
Run for 3 yards
Run for 3 yards

We were actually better on first down that I remembered especially in the second half. The issue was 3rd down offense as Kelly stated in his presser.

Weaker than LaTech!
I’m not buying LaTech is some how better than any SEC D LSU will face this year no matter what kind of stats they put up!
//
That said, I’m hoping or rather I believe Nuss’s injury coupled with a new O Line is hindering the Offenses production as much or more than who is calling the plays.

Tap the brakes on offense? Is this like saving timeouts? Is Kelly placing wages?

CBK thinking....10 first downs should do it! Rushing under 100 yards with half of those yards coming on end of game run with their defense selling out should be fine! SEE, I play to win!

Best time to get some good live practice for the situation against an opponent is another way to look at it. So that when you need to execute for later in the year, you have some level of application against a stout opponent.

That probably why he got so upset when the reporter called him out. He took it personally -

Why on earth are they “tapping” the breaks Brian?

You got to be aggressive and try to score enough points to at least take some pressure off of the defense. Relying strictly on the defense to win every game is not going to work. They are going to get worn down at some point. This is the dumbest mentality I’ve ever heard a coach say. So much for stepping on anybody’s throat and blowing them out. Y’all might as well forget that with this coaching philosophy.

It's both.

Regardless of how good (or bad) Sloan may be as an OC, anyone with two functioning brain cells would probably pull back and turtle if your patchwork OL can't keep La Tech out of your backfield and your QB is injured and already playing conservative.

That turns into what EE majors call "thermal runaway".

I get his meaning but don’t understand the way he worded it.

“Joe, like any OC, wants to score points, I’ve got to tap the breaks sometimes”

I get playing to your strength but it seems you do that by running more than we do, control the clock.

Honestly I think if you hit the breaks on this offense, we will start to go backwards.
