I'm still waiting to hear about this 70s union terrorism...

Y'all have to know this story. It's related to Union shady shite.
The African Americans shot by police narrative is bullshite. LInk about bomb and mentions labor/union fight

quote:

According to Hasten, in 1970 there was a big labor/management fight happening in Louisiana. On a Sunday when the Senate was not in session, a bomb went off. Hasten states, "It blew out the first few rows of the Senate. People think it's a pencil." Hodge agrees and adds, "The piece of wood got stuck there when the bomb went off. It demolished the front of the chamber. It was in connection with the right-to-work debate." However, as Alfred Speer puts it, "It took less than a week to rebuild it. They never did find out who did it."

State Capitol Wiki
quote:

On April 26, 1970, a bomb consisting of "twenty to 30 [sic] sticks of dynamite" was detonated in the Senate Chamber.[33] The bomb was an apparent retaliation for the shootings of three African Americans by the police; a second bomb exploded at a Baton Rouge country club.[33] A pencil remains embedded in the ceiling of the chamber from the force of the explosion.[34] The Louisiana State Capitol was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 9, 1972, and was designated a National Historic Landmark on December 12, 1982.[1][35]

You'll get blasted on here, but I can understand your point.

I would like to hear more of the union stories. I've never heard them.

I posted about the Bomb. But there was much lesser-known bullying and roughing up people on the fence about joining Union. Billy was rumored to be some muscle in some cases.

If you read his Biography, he admits to roughing up guys leaving the brothel(they wouldn't call cops in fear of wives finding out where they were after work) when he was in HS. The arrest for it got him blacklisted from some other big name schools during recruiting. So the idea of him beating up someone for $ after he was done with pro ball is not inconceivable.

Here's cliff notes. BR had some big petrochemical projects and was booming during that time frame. The unions wanted a piece and violence and intimidation where very, very active tools.

The head guy in BR had lots of skeletons and testified against jimmy hoffa to save his skin and It did save him. Cannon worked for him, as a street punk

how can you not understand some would have problems with this? I'm neither for it or against it at this point but I can, at least, understand both sides.

That's exactly my understanding from just digging over the years(I'm way too young to remember the 70s IRL).

He paid for his crime, move on, if they wanted to put Tricky Nicky up I would be furious, but not for Billy Cannon, Pistol Pete or Shaq

Exactly. There are good arguments on both sides. Probably the best comparison is OJ Simpson. He's most (in)famouns for being ACCUSED but not convicted of a double-homicide. He was however (like Cannon) convicted of a felony. His retired jersey still hangs at USC. A replica of his Heisman is on display, buy USC really wants nothing to do with him now.

Then again, Billy Sims (Oklahoma) has had legal trouble in his life (domestic violence, unpaid child support) and spent some time in jail. Yet, he is more than welcomed by OU and even has a statue on campus.

There's not "right or wrong" answer IMO

Why? He's one of only 3 coaches to win a football NC at LSU. I think all would agree he is the most responsible for getting LSU to a championship caliber program (which Miles then continued and built upon for 11 years)

Would you be ok with a statute of Paul Dietzel? Because he essentially did the same thing as Saban. He turned LSU into a national power; won a NC; then bolted for a "better job" at Army at a time he had LSU as a perennial top 10 program

For fricks sake does it need to spelled out to. The little duck head is actively seeking to hurt the LSU football program. It gives him a edge

Being compared to OJs felony is simply unfair

Billy made counterfeit bills. That is a victimless crime. OJ was tied people up and robbed them

People have to simply see not every felony or crime is viewed the same.
