About what? LSU basketball? Yeah I do. I’m just not sure why there’s a random thread about Bill Self on the Tiger Rant.

It's not random if you understand the context. It is absolutely tied to LSU.

100%. Don't start many threads. If I did, they would be on different topics.

I give you credit for persistence.

Is that based on how much Self has paid for players vs Wade's expense account.
I suspect 10X, is extremely low.

Wish I knew.

Josh Schertz & Jerrod Calhoun are my two top realistic choices.

Billy Donovan and Will Wade are my two pipe dreams.

Who you got MK?

Wade will be the first target. There are enough influential people in LA that want him so the admin will have to oblige. It will be a bit like LSU's pursuit of Kiffin. There is a clear No. 1 target, with no consensus second choice.

I think you will hear names like Scott Drew and Chris Beard come up. Drew will be interesting. Obviously, he has the pedigree, but Baylor has been on a steady downward trajectory since they won the title, and they are just flat out bad this year. It could be one of those situations (like Cal at Kentucky) where both sides want a "divorce", but neither side wants to be the one to walk away. LSU would have to pay a good chunk for Drew. Is that a good investment for a guy whose program is declining? Or, could he be LSU's Rick Barnes or Calipari? Guys who had good success at another power conf. program for a long time before thing ultimately turned stale. But then found new life at a different spot.

Beard will probably cost more than LSU's donors will want to pay...even though they would love to pants Ole Miss again.

After that, you'll see the top mid major names discussed. LSU could have had McMillan last season if they wanted him. I think watching him have success at A&M will make a mid-major more enticing.

With NO SOURCES WHATSOEVER, I'd say the name to watch is Eric Olen at New Mexico. He's spent his entire coaching career on the west coast and it's only his first year at New Mexico. But he was born and raised in Mobile. You don't grow up there not knowing the SEC...including LSU. If offered, it could be too good of an opportunity to pass up. Relatively speaking, he's done well in the transfer era

Very intriguing. I’ve watched a couple of his pressers. Definitely has a bit of a Dan Hurley vibe. Has southern roots too so that is another thing to consider. Would not be disappointed in the slightest with this hire.

Intriguing thought. Would also be a great hire, IMO.

Self didn't make a Final Four until the age of 45. WW is still just 43 and had to deal with issues Self did not that altered his trajectory which point to hypocrisy and a double standard, but I digress.

Self was 38 before he won a major conference championship, and went to his first NCAA tournament at age 36. Wade won the SEC title at LSU at age 36 and had made the NCAA tournament 3 times with 3 different teams by that age and went to his first NCAA tournament at the age of 34 in his 3rd season as a head coach, while it took self until his sixth season coaching to make the big dance.

Both coaches won conference championships at smaller conferences before they moved on to Kansas and LSU respectively - Self at Tulsa at the age of 36 and WW at VCU at the age of 34.

So before you say Bill Self is 10 times better a coach, like I see so many times when this comes up, well at this moment in time yes he has more skins on the wall yes, but in context - in real time at the same times in each of their careers in a direct age and years coached comparison....pretty damn close - in fact - real close, in fact a very good argument could be made WW was more accomplished at the same age and years as head coach.
