Betting line continues to move (Update)

There is a slight update on the line. It is still LSU -6.5, but the 'juice' has been adjusted to encourage money to move towards Texas. It is currently listed as LSU -115 and Texas -105. This is another way for betting services to encourage money to flow in a certain direction without changing the lines.
---------------------------------------------------------
From 09/03/19
It is now LSU -6.5 at Bovada.
In spite of all the talk about money flowing towards Texas, I never saw an outlet that had the line near a pickem (contrary to what was being reported); however, the preseason line was somewhere around LSU -7 and it did go down. On Monday the line opened at LSU -4 on Bovada. It has climbed back near that preseason mark at -6.5.
There are guys on Texas' roster that are nicked-up, but no major injuries that would cause a line to move that much in such a short period of time. My conclusion is that the 'eye test' on Saturday convinced the money to start moving towards LSU.
Nothing scientific about any of this and it doesn't in anyway contribute to the outcome of the game. Just an interesting anecdote.

Maybe only having one true RB...? I’m not a betting guy, so I’m not entirely familiar if that would be a problem.

I set it up so long ago I don't remember the specifics (but I know for a fact it wasn't Bitcoin)

LOL at people who jumped on Texas before Saturday night.

I believe the Running Back that is available is their starter (?). Regardless, unless the injured Running Back in Question is Earl Campbell or Hershel Walker it isn't going to move the line that much in 2 days. It would almost take the starting quarterback being out to have an injury move the line that much.
My take is something else caused the line to move.

Would have been nice to take LSU -4 and then Texas at +6.5. If LSU wins by 5 or 6 you would collect on both sides of the bet.
This is why Sports Books do not like having to move the line a lot. Yes, they can equal out the money on both sides, but they leave themselves vulnerable to losing both sides of the bet if the score happens to fall just right.

Let me rephrase it for those that are too narrow-minded to understand:
My take is something else besides an injury caused the money to begin flowing towards LSU after it had originally been flowing towards Texas.

If LSU goes in there and beats the spread, parts of my anatomy will also start to move...

Yeah....money
Is it that hard to comprehend that people saw LSU's offense and defense last weekend and began throwing money on the line, forcing it to move up? Why be a dick about somebody replying to something you said?

I took it a -5
Really pissed it wasn't available with my guy at -4

Bitcoin works great if you have coins to pay. Widely accepted with little to no wait times for clearing

Something has to be the impetus for money to flow one direction and cause the line to move. If you will look at my original post you will see that my conclusion, like your most recent one, was that people saw both teams and, using the eye test, started betting on LSU (my further point was it likely had nothing to do with injuries).
Perhaps I'm not as descriptive as necessary for laypeople because in my previous line of work (sports betting) we didn't have to explain ourselves when talking about the "line moving". Saying "money" when asked why a betting line moved is like saying 'there were more buyers than sellers' when asked why a stock price went up. That is the obvious reason, but the discussion at hand is why. I guess I assumed people knew that.

And the next question is how smart is the money. Dumb money makes the line move, too.

No question about it. The money has made the line move both directions. One set of those bettors is going to be wrong. The difference this time is there is at least a body of work for bettor to use in their analysis (although admittedly it is far too small to be a legitimate sample size).

Eight new starters on defense
One scholarship RB vs this defense.
I can understand why

Exactly. One rb is not going to cut it. Texas will become one dimensional and it will be a race to the qb.
