25 without a doubt
There is doubt until we play a few games in the SEC.
That stretch of top QBs, on the way to the title, was pretty impressive.

PFF said that LSU had their best PFF defensive rating ever vs. Clemson Saturday night. That includes games vs. cupcakes and FCS schools.
So the last 5 years or so since its inception?
Check out the 2011 defense and look at ppg. Those 2 defenses that played in Tuscaloser that season were far and away the best 2 I’ve ever seen on field at the same time. Almost like watching the ‘86 Bears vs the Dome Patrol. For fun, if you REALLY want to see what a great defense looked like, take gander of the box scores from the 1969 season.

One game pump the brakes

That Texas team was also extremely good that year that got ravaged by injuries. We played the best Texas team. Texas likely would've went far that season had they not got ravaged with injuries on their roster.

2025 has potential to be alot better. 2019 gave up alot or passing yards

2019 did not get its act together till the last 4 games of the season. You working all day.The Vanderbilt game that year had holes all over the field

Vandy put up 38
Vandy put up 24 on our defense, not 38, and most of that was when the game was well out of reach when LSU was willingly just giving up dink and dunk stuff. The other 14 points came from defensive touchdowns, one of which was a last-minute pick 6 with the backups in.
Sorry, this is just one of pet-peeves because other fans repeatedly use this game as evidence that the 2019 defense wasn't good, but the box score is super misleading if you didn't watch the game.

25 has the chance to be.

Baker needs to learn how to get pressure from 4 more consistently because if we have to keep relying on the blitz, once teams get more film on us they'll tear us up.

The defense had a great game. Let's pump the brakes. Florida, SC, A&M, OM all have QBs that can run. Let's see the defense against those teams before making any comparisons.

WAYYY too early to tell. After one game, 2025, but the 2019 defense improved over the course of the year and was solid by the time they reached the playoffs. We'll see how this year's squad fares, but happy so far!

Man I watched the Ole Miss 2023 highlights that I couldn’t stomach before, that was ugly. Ole Miss was stacked on offense though.

Dude for 1 game that's the best defense we've seen since 2011
Posted on 9/1/25 at 7:27 pm to IvoryBillMatt
Settle down. It’s just one game. Maybe Clemson sucks.

No 2019 defense was not elite. Our offense was EPIc but defense allowed over 20pts per game. 2003-2011 last time we've seen a defense like that.

little premature to compare, LSU has only played 1 game
