1. USC is looking for a coach. UGA may be soon as well. That's too much competition to search for a coach this offseason

EVERY year is always too much competition for too many Ranters.

Florida, Texas, penn state, Michigan are teams you would have mentioned in recent years.

Next year could be,
Texas, and aTm (sumlin seems to always be a hot name). If you have faith in your program; which you should:
Recruiting, #1 reason
Coach salary
fanbase (yes, even now)
Conference
------looking for a coach doesn't start today. The day a coach gets hired, he's on the clock due to the network of ADs and agents, ask Charlie strong. He didn't have a clear vote of confidence the day he walked on.

Miles has had ten years and knows that there were times that he had to get his cardboard box ready to empty his drawers.

But "luck" and chance ironically kept him here. BOS and AD as well as any other powers that be, send out feelers.

They know who's interested and who's not: who's ready to pull the trigger and who's happy where they are.

They know the few nfl guys that want to move to college ball, they know the college coaches that aren't looking for anything but nfl.

But by all means, don't act like lsu isn't a top10 program. That is the same wins/losses expectations that the pumpers have had for the last 3 years, verbally destroying any poster that expected more. When did the pumpers turn into Ole miss fans? Understanding "seasonal expectations" and "simply expecting more over a period of time to get our shite together"are two different things.

Same it true for LSU. Remember what the program is capable of and you will realize that LSU is a coaching destination.
"hallman'ardo" couldn't even ruin lsu. A top flight great(not just good) coach WANTS to come to LSU.

You may see that a top flight coach says to himself that not even Milesveto can tank at LSU, but the new guy just needs to realize that expectations are high here, and he will take the job knowing that. In fact, being at LSU will increase his football wherewithal because he might not have ever experienced a program like us.

I agree it's time for changes to be made. Miles has been a consistent, winning coach for us, but he's just not getting the most out of the talent we receive, anymore. Like he said, "There's just something I'm not doing right". And I agree with him. Yes, he's a "good recruiter", but it's Wilson and Coach O that do the brute work there. I would like to see a change made after this season, however, I believe that would ruin a VERY talented team we'll have next year. So, I say give him one more year with ultimatums. If you don't win the SEC, you're out. Bama will have a very young team next year, plus we play them at home. We should run the table next year with the experience and talent we'll have... Keyword - "should". But under Miles, we "should've" done a lot more.

Make him get rid of Cam, Grimes, Peveto, and Steele and give him another shot as long has he agrees to let go of the offense. Do a Bobby Bowden on him. Make him just the figure head.

When the change is made, I say we fire Steele, bump Coach O up to DC, hire a Pac-12 OC, and go after Jon Gruden for HC with the highest salary in the country!

Miles isn't in any danger of going anywhere.

Gruden has made several quirky comments about "how awesome it would be" coaching at LSU. Right now, he makes about $5 million a year commentating. He would easily make twice that if he came to LSU. And, ummm, not to mention, recruiting!? We would be a top 3 recruiting class every year he was coach at LSU, guaranteed.

Fire Aleva, "promote" Miles to AD, hire a new head coach, keep Wilson and Orgeron, win titles.

Can we include a guarantee that Miles won't give the job to Peveto?

The way to handle Miles is to give him one more year. Our AD should spend the next year looking for a young coach with Head Coaching experience. It doesn't have to be at a major school, either. If Miles doesn't win the West next year, bring in the youngster as Head Coach in waiting, and give Miles one more year. That enables a very smooth transition to the new guy and doesn't interrupt Miles' recruiting machine. It also lessens the financial blow to two years of salary, which can probably be negotiated down to half that. Manageable.

Yea, do this and you'll see a coaching staff implode. There are two coaches in waiting on this staff already in Wilson and Orgeron and you want to bring in someone from the outside to be the clear guy in waiting? Yea, that'll go over well...

Gruden says stuff like that about every school, every team, every player is his favorite, etc. I dont think you can take any of it too seriously.

For the nimrods saying we can hire any small school coach STFU. This job if handled correctly with Miles stepping down will bring great interest .I want nothing less than a successful Big 5 head coach, preferably one from the SEC ala Mullen.

Just keep everyone but Peveto and Cam. Promote Emsfinger to OC and have Ball and Grimes coach the TE. Hire a lb coach and ST coach.

Idiot. Miles is a great recruiter and program leader. But, he needs great assistants...his present OC does not meet that criteria.

Get rid of that sad sack Alleva, Slide Les to AD.

We get a guy with a great personality, who has an economics degree from Michigan to run the Athletic department, and get money. And we get rid of that Spineless SOB from Duke.
