If we base it off of purely on field performance, not NFL careers, awards recieved and all of that, Laron Landry is number one and the only person that is even close is Josh Reed.

Based on what they did on the field, not just talent-wise:
Rohan > Russell
Lavalais > Dorsey
Webster > Peterson

I love how these threads begin with a specific question and end with answers that do not adhere to the question. He asked who is the best PLAYER....not group of players. It seems like anytime someone starts a thread like this, people are naming 5 people in no time.

I like how there is no correct answer and only opinion based... many answers given were not the best player on the field only their favorite player...

It would be much easier to give best player at each specific position

Maybe the debate should be "Most Important" player in the decade because it seems a lot of posters can't differentiate between the most talented and the the best.

I am lol'ing at all the Hester picks. he may be a lot of people's favorite, but he probably doesn't crack the top 10 in best playes of the past decade

Why not Hester? He was fast, strong, smart, and ran hard. How many FSs and LBs is he going to have to truck to prove it?

because he simply wasn't the best player of the past decade. he was probably the 4th or 5th best running back we have had in the past decade.

To me, stats don't determine the best players. It's those intangibles that determine the best players, which is why I pick Hester.

so you are basically just picking your favorite player then.

Yeah Hester is one of my favorite but that's not why I pick him. He was one of those guys who you could count on. He never quit, he didn't know how to quit. He did what he did for his team. Those are the qualities that made him great.

I'm not sure he cracks Top 3 RBs. The five best RBs of the decade have been LaBrandon Toefield, Joseph Addai, Jacob Hester, Charles Scott, and Stevan Ridley.

I'm not sure Hester makes the top three in that group.

(Note: Justin Vincent had the best seven game stretch of the decade, but due to inconsistency, he doesn't make the top 5)

I won't argue with your opinion, because you are entitled to it.

I would be interested to get non-LSU fans opinions on it, I bet if you polled 1000 people, none would say Hester.

here is how I see it:

Joe Addai
LeBrandon Toefield
Dominick Davis
Steven Ridley
Jacob Hester
Charles Scott

in that order.

Keiland could have been the best, but he pissed someone off along the way.
