Jones by far.
Yeah, by far. Bert Jones had the same physical ability that Jamarcus had, and he obviously had a lot more self-discipline.

Jones clearly had a cannon of an arm. The ball travels fast even in slow motion.

Jones is what a more polished, dedicated Russell could have been. Maybe better. What a pity.

plus his accuracy and decision making

The stark similarity is how effortless they make 40-50 yd throws. I would like to see a crow hop to home from the warning track during both these guys prime.

Pity?
Capped his LSU career by being selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft becoming only the second football player in school history (joining Billy Cannon in 1960) to be selected with the top pick in the NFL Draft.
Finished ranked among the top five in every career passing category kept at LSU ... Compiled a 25-4 mark as LSU’s starting quarterback ... The 25 wins ties with Warren Rabb as the third-highest total in LSU history.
Ranked second all-time at LSU in career completion percentage (61.9) and career touchdown passes (52) ... Also ranks third in career completions (493) and career passing yards (6,625) and fourth in career attempts (797).
Is just the fourth player in school history to go over the 6,000 yard mark in total offense (6,704 yards) ... Capped career ranked No. 3 in school history with 6,704 yards of total offense, just one yard shy of tying Jeff Wickersham for second place in school history.
Connected with WR Dwayne Bowe on 23 TD passes which ranks the pair as the most prolific pass-catch scoring combo in school history.
Leaves LSU with single-season records in touchdown passes (tied Matt Mauck with 28), completions (232) and completion percentage (67.8) ... Is the only quarterback to lead the Tigers at least 10 wins in back-to-back seasons. Russell won 10 games as a starter in 2005 and followed that by starting all 11 victories in 2006.
frick man, IF HE WAS DEDICATED???? You think what he did at LSU was a pity???
WTF?

Jones was a pro-bowler and all-pro. I'm sure that's what he was referring to. Nobody is going to sit there and act like Jamarcus wasn't impressive at LSU but he was a lazy embarrassment in the NFL unlike Bert.

Ole Charlie Mac never played Bert an entire game. He believed in a two qb system.
Bert was twice the qb vs Russell.

Jamarcus was an arm with no head. Jones was a QB.

You have to realize that there is a portion of our fanbase that still thinks Jruss was all arm and no accuracy when FACTS prove them wrong.
To some wearing that "Bama boy" necklace in 07 was bridge too far.
ETA: THE POSTER ABOVE ME PROVES MY POINT.

Take a guess which one had the better completion % and career qb rating in a much tougher sec.
You clearly didn't watch Jruss if all you think he did was throw the football hard.
His 2006 season is the gold standard for lsu qbing.
He set the lsu passing records in COMPLETION %, passing tds(tied) and completion.
He did that while our top 4 rbs didnt have 1500 yards combined.

Bert was the better NFL QB and outdoorsman. Jamarcus was alot better at mixing that purple drank up.

It's unfair to compare because Bert Jones didn't have to resist the temptation of Purple Drank.

He didn't say that, you did. You added the "at LSU". Clearly Jamarcus was a colossal bust in his career. And that is a pity to any sensible person.
Back to the topic. Jones and Jamarcus were physically similar. Both had barrel chests and canons for arms. Jones was handicapped by Charlie Mac. Fortunately for Jamarcus he had Miles at the beginning of his tenure rather than in the Cam years.
