Imagine getting so emotionally triggered that you throw a tantrum and tell somebody to kick rocks because they mentioned an LSU basketball player.

Grow a pair big man.

You can point to his unwillingness to score, but basketball is more than scoring sometimes.

You’re right. It also requires to not be a pussy.

he could always fill up a stat sheet. But I can remember watching him here, it always seemed like something was missing.

Is he the only first overall pick to not make the NIT?

No. Excluding international guys, most recently Anthony Edwards from UGA all of 4 years ago. UGA was 16-16 and 5-13 in the SEC

I don’t want to defend Simmons but he’s not the reason we choked that season. Tim Quarterman was a cancer in the locker room and on the court. He also had leverage on Johnny and divided the team. Blakeney all but named him after the meltdown during the SEC tourney.

Great player for one year at LSU, but the other 4 players on the court sucked.

The frick!?

Tim Quarterman - Played in the NBA (#74 HS prospect)
Antonio Blakeney - Played in the NBA (#15 HS prospect)
Craig Victor - NBA G-League and done very well in Europe (#39 HS prospect)
Keith Hornsby - Very solid player for us and still playing internationally

That + Simmons was a top 10 starting 5 in the country. Bench wasn't great, but we had Josh Gray, Jalyn Patterson, Brandon Sampson, Brian Bridgewater, Aaron Epps, etc.

That was the worst coaching job I've ever seen. That team is the most underachieving team in any major sport at LSU in my lifetime. Simmons had a great year statistically, but the culture was terrible and the in-game coaching was so bad I'm pissed off typing this.

ETA:

As someone else said above, Johnny handled Quarterman in a terrible fashion. Good coaches deal with kids like that in one way or another.

Literally All-NBA as well as Rookie of the Year and finished 2nd in Defensive Player of the Year voting.

He's a world class basketball player when his mind is right. I'm cheering him on to get back to that elite level of play.

Didn’t Simmons get all kinds of special treatment?

No class
No practice
A film crew to follow him everywhere for his documentary

Jones sold out to get Simmons. It seems to me that other players didn’t let that and thus the drama.

But you are right JJ didn’t do much coaching.

No class is pretty much true, but he practiced.

I don't think Johnny taught our kids a lick of shite, though.

I thought I read he’d go off by himself in the dungeon sometimes instead of staying with the team at times, no?
