What a disappointment he turned out to be. I was so excited for basketball season when we got him at LSU. He was solid at LSU, but pretty much everything about any team he has been on has been a big dud.

Same thing that happened a year ago. What is wrong with this dude’s back? He’s only 27

Wild that he is still making $38M/yr. Is he the 2nd highest paid former LSU athlete behind Burrow? (Not counting Shaq)

Fun fact: he’s also been fined over $17M in his career

People almost 7ft tall tend to have back, knee or feet problems.

Even though I've been folowing LSU basketball recruiting since the John Williams days, Ben Simmons is the only prospect (& LSU commit) I ever got to see in HS (Montverde played a game at the Alario Center in Westwego, La, two miles from my house, where he shined that night with 3 pointers, dunks & gorgeous passes).

I thought much like Shaq, I thought I'd be witnessing a future No. 1 pick who'd dominate the NBA for a decade or more.

While he was a number one pick, he underwhelmed at LSU & was a colossal fail in the NBA. It might be worse having seen him dominate at the HS level knowing what could have been.

i seriously have never understood any of the hype around this guy.

he demonstrated from the first game he played at LSU he gave no fricks about anything except getting that NBA paycheck.

he demonstrated from the frist NBA game he played he gave no fricks about anything except that NBA paycheck.

character matters. for all the apologists who justify his shitty LSU career, CHARACTER MATTERS.

now the NBA FAFO. first round pick LMFAO

Dumb AF. Jamarcus didn't do anything in pro sports. Ben had a fantastic start to his career before going mental and getting hurt a bunch.

3× NBA All-Star (2019–2021)
All-NBA Third Team (2020)
2× NBA All-Defensive First Team (2020, 2021)
NBA Rookie of the Year (2018)
NBA All-Rookie First Team (2018)
NBA steals leader (2020)

For the record, I don't like Ben Simmons very much, but the revisionist history around him is absurd. He was also a fricking beast at LSU. Unanimous first team All-American and averaged 19/12/5 which is one of the greatest freshman seasons in NCAA history.

He does seem like a complete jackass though.

It’s on the record Ben Simmons injured his back in the NBA during quarantine/player strikes by spending too much time on the couch.

I guess it’s possible he is actually just that prone to back problems, but I’m thinking a guy as young as he was would have to have generally terrible habits off the court to legitimately injure his back passively over a few months like that.

Not sure if that injury is related to this one, but spine wear & tear isn’t reversible.

He’s built like a statue, so I have a hard time believing it’s genetic. Could just be years of bad habits intersecting with the gauntlet of being a professional athlete.

This is not surprising. If you don't have a spine, then you are more apt to have back problems.
