Harden ain't got nothing to prove. Why should he go all out and play as hard as he can? I guarantee you Simmons is playing as hard as he can. Nothing to read here.
You apparently have no clue how competitive professional athletes are especially basketball. Kobe Bryant has held events just to destroy fans along with other players doing similar things to showcase skills. I'm not saying Harden was going all out like it was a game 7 but I can promise you he was not jogging either which I am willing to bet Simmons was in the same mindset.

@Jigga2cal: Ben Simmons just makes the right play over & over & over. Unbelievable IQ and passing like a PG #NikeBasketballAcademy
Music to my ears. We need exactly this. We need IQ and someone to make the right play over and over.

I'm with you on all accounts, but I think that we should start expecting more from JJ's teams.
After last season's disappointment, I'll agree that a Sweet 16 run would provide JJ and more importantly LSU bball credibility. Sweet 16 would indeed be the next step. But, if JJ continues to recruit on this level, the outcomes have to obviously get better.
One thing is certain after last season, let's focus on consistency. LSU won some big games last year, and that was certainly progress. But, let's get rid of the bad loses...especially the bad loses linked to bad coaching.

If LSU takes care of business against bottom 5 SEC opponents last year , they are a 4/5 seed and 2nd in SEC. We did well against the top SEC teams.

I'm the weakest Harden supporter there is but in no way does Harden have to

That's why James Harden will never win a championship.
You think Jordan would have let some high school kid show him up at some camp in front of everyone?

I agree Harden doesn't have the championship drive but who said he was showing Harden up?
They probably weren't even guarding each other. Ben Simmons could have been out playing him. Yes.
But nothing was mentioned about showing Harden up.

Maybe not to you. Maybe not to management. Maybe not to anyone. But I know I would want to prove it to myself. It's the mentality of sports stars. You always want to grind to be the best and for the most part athletes love to prove it (to themselves).

I agree with that statement for most elite athletes, however Harden seems like to me that he is an extremely arrogant athlete. And I believe he would take a "I don't need to give it 100% because I'm James Harden and everyone in the world knows you aren't even on my level right now" attitude.

I get your point but I have to disagree with some of your post. Last year wasn't a disappointment. Most people thought if we made the tournament it would be a good year . We were also picked to lose to NC ST by almost everyone. Now once we got in the game we had a chance and the players couldn't finish it out but that doesn't change the fact that being there already met most expectations. Haven't we also increased out win total every year under jones. The outcomes have been getting better and just slight improvement again would put us in or right at the sweet sixteen. I get people questioning some of the in game decisions but as far as the overall picture we have without a doubt been moving in the right direction.

Are we SEC Champs in '15-16?
LSU should be very much in the mix. UK will be good, but next year's team looks closer to the '14 UK team vs the '15 UK team. A&M should be really good as well. After that, you've got a lot of teams that might be really good, but you just don't know. It will be a bit disappointing if LSU is not in serious contention for the SEC title. There doesn't appear to be Juggernaut out there like '15 UK or '14 UF

Are we a top regional seed in the NCAAs?
That's asking an awful lot. At the moment LSU's OOC schedule doesn't look THAT daunting, so the RPI may take a hit. To be a #1 seed LSU could probably only lose 3-6 games. Very tough for any team. 3-5 seed range should be a reasonable goal

Are we final four or bust?
LSU is not Duke, UK, UNC, Kansas where the expectations are national championship or bust. However, in some sense next year is kind of a "final four or bust" year. No, I don't expect LSU to make it to the Final Four. But next year may be the most talented team Jones will ever have at LSU. If it's going to happen, then logically you would think next year is the year to do it.

Will this 1-and-done team win it all???
Hope so!!!

@CJMooreBR: Ben Simmons showing he can guard right now against Anthony Davis. Fun matchup. Two freaks.
Not taking anything away from Ben and that would be epic. But this one seems unlikely. I mean AD is dominating the NBA and guys much bigger than Ben.
But honestly thought, from what I've seen him do on the court I wouldn't be surprised.

I don't know if you've seen Ben lately, but he's put on about 20 pounds of solid muscle since the McDonald's game.

At the SEC teleconference JJ said Ben is 6'10 240 pounds now.
That's basically LeBron size when he went to the NBA.
