Great teams run their offense no matter the opponent
Do you think this LSU team has the potential to be great?

Right now and with Charles out, I guess they were more concerned with max protecting and keeping Burrow upright than trying to get creative or running plays to get the ball out quick.
The idea that going max pro being the problem is waaaaay off base.
The problem isn't that we are in max protection. It's that the defense is getting pressure on the QB even though we are in max protection.

I believe they will try to open it up in a big way - Ensminger isn't dumb
He has done little to dispel this rumor.

So you believe the coaches didn't hold anything back with respect to formations, schemes, play-calling for next week's game? And, that's all Ensminger has in his playbook to run??
What is most likely is they will have a completely different gameplan against everyone. We have heard O & E talk about implementing every different type of offense into this offense.... which basically means that we're a jack of all trades and master of none. It's almost impossible to go from shotgun spread in one game to double tight-end the next and do it efficiently. Pick one and become good at it.

This whole idea that you run a vanilla offense and hide the real thing until you play good teams is stupid and has been proven false year after year. Other teams run their full offense against weak teams that way they aren’t doing it for the first time against good competition. Sure there are some wrinkles thrown in here and there based on game plan but the overall scheme is the same. And LSUs scheme just isn’t very good. It isn’t suddenly changing next week.
I'm still waiting to see any other team "hide" there offense against weak competition.
Can any one tell me when they have seen Bama, Auburn, Ohio state, UGA, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State etc go vanilla? They don't! They hang 35-50 in first half and play back ups.
They whole idea that LSU runs vanilla against weak completion is absurd and has been absurd for 10 years!
But hey, Secret Playbook! amirite or amirite????

SE will believe in the same old thing because he IS the same old thing.

The question I have is this - did LSU gain much by not showing some of the formations to Auburn versus the benefit of doing so to get some real-game experience? That, to me, is the dilemma. We have young, inexperienced players who need quality reps - I also assume that Auburn will get the benefit of seeing some of the formations LSU used in a slightly more wide-open attack versus Miami. So, was there a true benefit to not running more formations versus SLU?
In fact, we needed to run our normal offense to get some live game reps. If you want to leave a few plays out to not tip your hand, fine. But thats not what happened.

There is good reason to believe this is true.
I have a buddy who works at Whitney Bank in New Orleans where the big vault has, among other jewels, the Secret Play Book.
Brinks guards picked it up this morning at 8:45, headed for BR.

Based on the pletoera of schemes that O & E have promised I'm guessing this week is either wishbone week or west coast offense week?

I believe I will win the Powerball.

From today:
“Coach O: "There are some things we can do on offense that we're not doing that we plan on doing this week."”

Wrong.
We rolling out the 7-11 offense.
Auburn won't know what to do when LSU lines up with only a center on the line.

Don't tell the fans this, tell the coaches.
Believing LSU will run a different offense next week is dumb.
There has been very little change to the overall offensive philosophy of this team since Mettenberger left after the '13 season, despite the many changes that have been made on the coaching side of things.
5 years of the same stupid crap.
Posted on 9/10/18 at 1:43 pm to TiggerB8t
So they’ve been practicing two different offenses all this time, but only running one during the two games thus far?

If the OL plays as bad as Sat, then it does not matter what play is called. The result will be the same. Let's hope that the OL plays better this week. They will need to have their best game for us to have a chance at keeping this game close.

I think it’s dumb to think we’ll run a radically different offense.
We may not be exactly the same, but we’ve played 2 games, one against a top 10 team and one against aN FCS opponent and didn’t look radically different in either.

How O took coach speak to another level is beyond me. He is a master of using even more words than normal to say literally nothing.
He should teach a seminar to other coaches.

Looking around college football, many of the good teams seem to have no issues rolling up offense on their tomato can opponents.
The difference is that these other teams are better prepared/coached and are able to execute the plays called. If the team is successful and able to win with a small set of plays, then there is no need to run plays you wish to save for later.
In our case, we are inept on offense. These guys are athletes and will get better as the year progresses, but our record will suffer.

You are an Idiot! They don't have a top secret playbook!
