It's ok, they'll run the complicated one vs Auburn!

That’s the thing, if we can line up and get it done by any means, I’ll be happy. I don’t care if it means winning 3-0. A win at Jordan-Hare is a BIG step. Something we haven’t done in damn near 20 years!

Coaches lie all the time about their plans. They speak in generalities because at the end of the day like Jim Mora, Sr said, " you don't know what you are looking at. You may think you do, but you don't"

But, then again

Great teams run their offense no matter the opponent.
If you are not going to run something against SLU what makes you think they are going to run all kinds of new plays against Auburn.
SLU is the perfect game to work on some of the things you want to do or get better at.
Right now and with Charles out, I guess they were more concerned with max protecting and keeping Burrow upright than trying to get creative or running plays to get the ball out quick.
They still didn't use the RB's out of the backfield in the passing game or the quick slants or out routes to keep the chains moving.
Wait until they max protect against UGA, Bama or even Miss St this year. It's going to be ugly.

Just like Miles, at the end of the day, they are paid to win football games. As ugly as it looks or until you have the right personnel, O will do whatever it takes to win games to keep his job. That's fine, but it's going to continue to hit you in recruiting when everything you've promised QB's continues not to be shown on the field.

So basically we are to believe we couldnt execute a "vanilla" game plan against a crap opponent but we'll break out a more complicated version or the "real" offense against a far better opponent in one of the toughest environments in the country and won't step all over our dicks?

well were also supposed to believe two 70 year old men were going to bring the LSU offense into the modern era by making our offense a Frankenstein of all the popular offenses going now.....Seems like I've heard of this happening somewhere before

oh yeah

quote:

For example: When he took his first head coaching job at Ole Miss in 2005, he announced that the remnants of David Cutcliffe’s offense would marry a zone-blocking scheme with USC’s two-back system, on top of then-coordinator Noel Mazzone’s NC State passing offense that made Philip Rivers a star.

The result was an over-managed disaster. Orgeron screamed. Often. At anyone, player or coach, and anywhere, too.

Quote: So you must believe that the fighting Ensminger offense has already perfected all the things that they could have worked on vs Southeastern? We are just hiding our hand huh?? Lmao

No, I don't - read my post! I don't think we gained much of anything by holding back some formations. They're not running standard formations well, so it's apparent they need to show it on the field and build confidence and timing.

I want to believe Ensminger will open it up more - but I could be wrong - will result in almost certain defeat if he doesn't. And, I will be the fool for thinking they will!

IMO, the only reason they don't try to open it up more is if the coaches have ZERO belief that this offense (with a weak OLine) can throw the ball without big turnovers. IF that is the case, they will play conservatively, and try to keep the game close with our Defense. And, the coaches will say "it's not a travesty to lose a close game at JH Stadium - the fans can bitch all they want, but we did our best" mentality....which, you and I and every other fan are getting very tired of seeing and hearing. Style points in losing don't count for much these days.

. That is complete bullshite and I was a big fan of Jim Mora. But don’t try to sell me that bullshite. It’s is freaking football not heart surgery. It is football it is not hard. The average hardcore fan knows far about the game than any coach will ever give them credit for.

I agree - I did not see any great benefit to hiding formations/plays given what we've seen so far - perhaps the early big lead skewed the play-calling later on, but nonetheless, this offense needs reps to build confidence and perfect their execution.

I really wanted to believe the big lead skewed the playcalling against Miami. But looking back at it, I only saw one decent drive. Still wanted to believe we were just being conservative and running the clock out. But there is no way in hell that we weren't trying to put this game away against SLU. Not with Burrow constantly taking hits and ignorantly refusing to slide.

Yet to see Giles be unguardable or Burrow be the savior.

It seems to be the elite teams don’t care what they show or don’t show they just go hammer whoever is up next.

I am glad we got to play some inexperienced players. Wished Brennan would have played. We are one hit away from rolling out a QB with zero snaps in a live game that counts. I kind of get it the coaches want Joe to develop some chemistry with his receivers but still we are 1 injury away with no lives snaps for the most important position on the offense.

Hoping we are competitive and score more than 10-14 at Auburn.

We probably will not win at Auburn, so everyone needs to prepare mentally for an L.

Hope I’m wrong, but myself and many others had this penciled in as an L before the season and I haven’t seen anything that warrants adjusting that prediction.

No it's not, if you knew really what you were talking about you would be reaping the benefits of a mid to high 6 figure salary and banging co-eds in the evenings. You have no idea what they were trying to do overall and what their thinking was. Do you think they are going to announce to the world that they were trying to keep all their cards in tight to the vest or they were hiding what they are thinking ? No they are going to give you a load of bullshite in a Monday press conference especially before league play

You were listening to that guy who said that watching the safety is the ultimate key, weren't you? It's not always that

They aren't opening up shite at Jordan Hare with a weak offensive line against a good defense. They're going to go into a shell and hope they can win a low scoring game with FGs and defense.

this sounds exactly like Les Miles. it's insane that we fired him and hired O to get the same results.

Kinda hard to "open it up" when your o-line can't keep Southeastern's pass rush off your QB, let alone what Auburn's pass rush might do.
