Article by CBS on College Football stadiums now allowing beer sales. I'm super surprised Mr. Money- Alleva hasn't allowed this yet ?

LSU has been actively trying to distance itself from the "party school" rep since the 90's. This isn't a decision that lies solely with Alleva. I'm sure he'd love to plug into that cash cow.

"Let's not make a shite ton of money for allowing beer sales to general seating, let's just have everyone binge drink leading up to the game and watch the mass exodus at halftime!"

It's a matter of time IMO. The $$ will overtake eventually.

The people may have spoken. But the NCAA hasn't spoken to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). So said Colleen Sheehey-Church, the organization's president. "We do have a reaction," Sheehey-Church told CBS Sports. "It's part of our mission statement. We want to prevent underage drinking. MADD discourages the service of alcohol at a college game-day event.

"I don't know what good comes out of it," Sheehey-Church said. "That would be my first sentence."

Beer is for before the game at the tailgate. Bourbon is for during the game and afterward.

Is irrelevant and their opinion doesn't matter.

Same

If they were ever to sell beer in Tiger Stadium, I wonder if they'd check for booze a lot harder upon entry.

I really don't see it happening any time soon. I really wish they would start selling beer at the box though

I drink enough tailgating that I can't really imagine needing more beer during the game. My buzz typically wears off somewhere between the 3rd and 4th quarter which is around the time most stadiums cut off alcohol sales anyway.

This really isn't intentional either, it is just happenstance from tailgating all day.

I rather not see this. Enough drunken idiots as it stands now.

Well, it wouldn't wear off if you kept drinking all game.

There are definitive studies that beer sales in stadiums actually curtail binge drinking as well as earn massive revenue.

yeah that's just stupid. Selling beer wouldn't cause a bunch more drunken idiots. If anything it would cut down on them since they wouldn't have to pound liquor

I'll keep bringing in bourbon. So I don't care either way.

Me too, but I'd probably have a couple beers in the first half before switching to the hard stuff in the 2nd half.

Also there are definitely game days where I REALLLLLY don't feel like going to the liquor store before heading out to tailgate. In the past, I had no option, but if they sold beer I'd probably think about being lazy and not doing it sometimes.

What SEC stadiums are currently serving beer?

As I understand it, this is a SEC rule, not an NCAA rule. That rule only applies at NCAA tourney sites. JA has pushed for it the past yr or so.
