I think it’s because Kelly is paid $10 mill a year. Expected more out of him.

LSU didn't pay all those coaches together what BK is stealing from LSU

Well no shite. Coaches of that era made $200K MAX, MAX. Come on man, get real.

I’m starting to feel like Kelly is worse than Dinardo. He’s certainly more disappointing.

Nobody will ever be worse than Curley, though.

70’s ?? We’ve tasted national champions since then. Our expectations are higher. We pay premium dollar for tickets, we should have a premium product. We don’t.

Peak dumbass Leslie was way worse than this. We won inspite of him for years and those wins almost felt worse than losing because we knew they wouldn’t fire him.

I have been just as frustrated many many seasons including 2002, 2004, 2008, 2009, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024. Not counting the Hallman years or 1998

You are more frustrated with Kelly than Curly Hallman??? No way.

Hell yes. I was at LSU during the Hallman years and it sucked, but we expected it and knew we weren’t chained to him with a crazy buyout. Dinardo actually were good fun years, barring one. But this clown show is frustrating at a new level because we have the talent and we are stuck with this fraud of a coach.

Fify

Y’all do my guy Gerry D a little too dirty on here. He had me feeling pretty good those first 3 years for the most part.

98 was frustrating and 99 just bad (and you knew he was on his way out), but I give him a bit of a pass because he’d brung us some magic, baws.

Social media and message boards( don’t ban me , I love this site) have made college sports and life more frustrating for some.

As a teen, I was in the Valley for the Southern Mias game with 40,000 fans in the stadium. That was a low point for the modern LSU era. But we knew LSU sucked.. These seasons are more frustrating

I’m not quite as old as OP, but I was there for Dinardo. Here’s why the BK era feels worse to me:

1. The new reality of CFB has severed the connection between fans and players. We all know that they’re mostly mercenaries. That’s fine, but when you start to see the game for what it’s become, it’s different. I’ve never been more indifferent about LSU football.

2. As others said, we were never so trapped by a hire before. LSU can’t afford to buy him out. So unless he retires, we’re screwed for 3-4 more years when b the buyout will be more tenable.

3. The real problem is that LSU has always been one of the “haves” of college football. In the new era, we are a “have not” compared to the bigger money schools. We will struggle to recruit out of state and to retain in state talent until there is some kind of regulation.

Which is all to say that things feel pretty bleak now.
