If what you say is true about your players returning and assuming none go into the transfer portal for bigger schools and more money then you have a team that would compete well in the sec. I think patching a game together with the relievers you have available will also serve you better than trying to ask one person to a bunch of innings as our batters don’t take long usually to figure out a pitcher. Last night was an exception.

Looks like USM found another top pitcher for next year. How about LSU?

With NIL in play, don’t be surprised if you lose one or both of your guys.

I know you're talking about the OP. I'm not sure what you mean by "yes, but not the subject". I was referring to that comment, and asking you if you still thought it was about a superiority complex.

That’s your take, and I get it, unless you read his mind

I don't have to read his mind. I'm using common sense and choosing to believe that no one is dumb enough to call the host team scrubs. Given the pitchers they threw at us were literally used as scrubs by USM this year, it seems pretty obvious to me that this was his point. I think that jumping to the conclusion that the poster is an idiot or has a superiority complex, without considering the context, is just a lazy excuse to call someone out.

quote:

Dude didn’t mention anything about pitching… He just referred to the whole USM team as “scrubs”

He didn't mention anything about hitting, either. He didn't mention USM, at all. So I guess we are to assume he was referring to doctors. Unless you read his mind.

By scrubs, you mean the team with the second best pitching staff in the country?

Because a few guys made that assumption, and group-think ensued. That's how it works on the internet. Few people seem interested in critical thought, choosing to jump to conclusions and bash, for the sport of it, instead.

but some of you guys are downright stupid about College Baseball.

Understatement of the year for this board?

we will probably be preseason top 5 by everyone next year.

Depending on who they return, I could see this. I know they were pushing for a national seed this year until sometime in May. What happened? Injuries, slump, pitching was off for a few weekends?

USM is in C-USA which is the top rpi baseball conference amongst mid majors. They are a very good team and there is a reason they are the 11 seed.

A lot of their self-esteem comes from being LSU sports fans.

It’s not healthy.

The position players are far from being scrubs. But then those same players were held to 5 hits & 4 runs by a staff that HAD no pitching to start with & by Sunday threw nobody. Yet had a chance to win the game going into the bottom of the 9th. The guy who beat LSU last nite was / is a scrub, going by his 9 innings pitched all year. All credit to him.

Prior to the Oregon game in the NCAAT last year, Javen Coleman had pitched 24.2 innings and had given up 20 runs (7.39 ERA). Opponents were hitting .274 against him and he'd walked 15 batters (.367 OBP)

Against Oregon, he went 6 innings, gave up just 3 hits and 1 run. He walked three.

See, our fans look at what Coleman did and see a kid who broke through and thought he would be a weekend stater this year prior to him getting hurt. Our fans see a kid on another team like Southern Miss do it and think we just got beat byb a scrub. Why is that?

I guess you aren't familiar with the nuance of sarcasm. If you are going to argue that someone meant something because of what they didn't say, then who's to say the OP was talking about any team, by that logic. Sometimes people say the umps beat them (like some USM fans were insinuating on Saturday).

What he said was scrubs. And given the high ERA's and low inning total of the pitchers that USM threw, it seems pretty likely that he was referring to those pitchers. You asked if I was reading his mind. But I could ask you the same question.

Unfortunately, LSU did not take advantage. You knew pitching was going to likely let us down, so you had to jump on those low leverage relievers. LSU fared much better against USM's top relievers, as it turned out, but it wasn't enough, and that's not surprising. At least they battled.
