Intentionally walking the batter in front of you so they can pitch to you with runners in scoring position and two outs should be fuel enough.

I’m just so damn tired of his emotionless response. He just looks pitiful

When they are walking your freshman to get to you w risp you are effectively benching Curiel. Don’t give them the option

oh the irony

and at this point we can't sit him, we can just hope he tries to draw walks instead of trying to hit a homerun on every pitch.

However, he should be batting 5 or 6.

He needs to figure it out. Hope tomorrow he can hit his way out of it.

Yeah, tonight is the perfect opportunity for Jones to get his mojo back. He will be facing very average to below average college pitching. I would have moved him down a week or two ago, but I’d leave him in the two hole tonight and see if he can feast. That would give him some confidence leading into the Supers. But if he sucks tonight I’d drop him to 7 or 8 for the Supers and pinch hit for him later in game one.

leave another 4-5 in scoring position and we may not see a super. He is a black hole, as well as Bras. It’s time. It’s hard, but time. When the other coach WANTS to face you, it’s time. JJ is letting his emotion rule this decision. He needs to acknowledge what everyone has seen

No, he needs to bat 7th and Brasswell 8th.

Put the rally killers at the bottom of the lineup

Only if you have some guts and you care a little bit. It seems like neither are the case for him.

Look, I’m as big of a critic of Jones as anyone. Quite frankly, I don’t really like the kid that much. He has a terrible attitude, he’s lazy at times, and he is undisciplined at the plate at times.

But, the answer is 100% “No.” He’s your 1st basemen and has held that position down this year. The better questions is where should he hit in the lineup. With his power, you don’t drop him below 7. My opinion is 5 or 6, but Milam needs to be 2.

I don't love him at 2, but he's batting .320 with power. You don't bench that for a slump unless you are a retard.

It may not be a true apples to apples comparison but what do you do with a pitcher that is struggling, leave him in or take him out? Why is it different for a position player?

When the slump has been for almost half the season there may be justification.

I have always been a fan of Jones, but the interest of the team is greater than the interests of any individual. Perhaps he could swap spots with Stanfield in the batting order. Jones looks completely lost at the plate at this time.

Don't bench him, you need his glove. Not just for fielding, but for receiving slightly errant throws that he's great at catching.
Errors at 1st would be worse than a cold bat.

But drop him in the lineup, maybe 6th. That way he still has a bat behind him, and if guys get on he has chances for rbi's.
And if he revives, keep him maybe 4th or 5th. Stanfield should either lead off, or bat second behind Curiel

they are walking folks to pitch to him. He doesn’t need protecting, the man in front of him does

If JAY leaves him batting second then when Curiel gets on base ahead of him with less than two outs - he should sacrifice

check me if I'm wrong Sandy but wouldn't that involve putting the bat on the ball?
