Is it considered a “slump” when it’s against nearly every good pitcher he’s faced all year?

That is a bit of a stretch my guy.

He’s 5 for his last 13

No, he isn't. He is 4 out of his 13. 0-5, 3-4, 1-4. If I wanted to spend more time, I would go back further in previous games...usually, when posters try to support their point, they only go back enough to try to prove it. Anyway, he is NOT 5 out of his 13 unless the official SEC site which provides box scores is wrong.

He was 2 of 5 in the last Little Rock game.

I will preface my next comments with "yes, I have been the batting coach for the last 8 CWS winners" since I know there will be the usual 3rd grade comment response like "well, LSU should have you as their batting coach." Now with that out of the way, I would definitely look at 3 physical things with him (don't know about his mental state/pressing/frustrated, etc)

1) is he close enough to the plate because he is being ABUSED on those outside breaking pitches
2) in the same vein, can he move up in the batter's box which is the classic way to try to get to the curve ball before that final break
3) this one I'm sure of unlike the first 2. For God's sake, give up the Joey Gallo swing. Both have way too much uppercut on their swings which is why each strikes out so much. Pretty easy physics to know that the more level your swing, the more of a mistake in timing of your swing you can have and still have the bat hit the ball. No shocker that Gallo and Jones HRs and popups bring rain....takes the ball forever to come down.

And Iowa grows corn. It has nothing to do with him going 4 out of 13 in the last 3 games...NOT 5 out of 13 as stated by the poster. Also, you obviously wanted to slip in one more game for a reason...how about the previous games in the BR regional. You could have listed those also right.

Watching some of Landon stump he looks like we should bash him to be honest. Almost 5 era, 1.7whip, less strikeouts than innings pitched. Not near what gaeckle can do.

You said the poster likely stopped for a reason. I simply went back a game to see if he stopped at an 0-5. He did not.

I did not post the incorrect 5-13, nor am I defending or arguing.

If we start to bash him, they will take him out quickly. Very short leashes on their starters due to having such a good bullpen this year for UCLA.

I didn't say you were the one who posted 5 for 13...you were NOT as you stated. I did go back and review ALL regional ABs. He was 4 for 20 in the 4 games. Anyone who thinks Jones is batting well the last couple of weeks needs to retake Math 101. He is 8 for 33.
