Look, I'm not overreacting but it seems this team 1-9 has issues scoring runs

I heard a few folks at the game that attend regularly claim this was it for Javi...time to hire a reputable position coach. I'm inclined to agree. LSU seems to attract some of the best out there but they flat line when they get here at the plate...

For the record, I think we win tomorrow but these plate appearances are challenging to watch sometimes.

It's both and both are Javi's fault.

lack of talent. our 2nd best hitter has struck out 50+ times and wasn't even drafted

Lack of talent would be Sanchez' fault also.

Said it in the game thread. I think it's both. And both land at his feet. He must be able to make those brats pop like Ensminger to be able to keep his job.

I'd say it's more Javi's fault

I'm pretty sure he wasnt draft eligible.

Okay I'm wrong. I was referring to Jacoby bc I read it as our second hitter not second best. Was JJ eligible?

I think I would blame it more on our approach at the plate which would be coaching I reckon.....however the buck stops at the top....Maineri is not without fault there.

Do we ever choke up on the bat with two strikes?

Maybe it's recruiting but if Dunn can turn our pitching around, I think making the right hire can have the same affect. Stony Brooks team seems pretty disciplined at the plate but I'm not scout.

Y'all give PM a pass all the time to blame Javi. PM has WAY more to do with the talent on the field than Javi.

It is both. And while I'm not trying to pile on Sanchez, he is also the recruiting coordinator who, for the past 3 years, has identified and recruited the talent.

Mainieri certainly shares some of the blame for taking his hands-off approach following 2009. All in all, we haven't been affected too bad by the draft in terms of position players. So the problem really isn't getting kids to campus. At the same time, these guys have been playing baseball for a long time growing up, so it's a bit concerning they don't naturally make adjustments or change their approaches from at-bat to at-bat.

At the end of the day, we don't have many great hitters who can either do it consistently or naturally. A number of things contribute to this and it's pretty amazing we have won 47 games with this offense.

No one is giving him a pass. I will forever hate PM for admitting he took a year off after he won a NC.

Talent

A lot of people knew before the season that pitching and defense would have to carry the team. All you can ask for is that they take a solid approach and be good situational hitters, and they've done that.

Maineri has done a superb job with what talent he has. Or maybe that should be credited to Dunn.

Helicopter Javi has issues though.

Its Javi just like it was grewe with pitching. Two worse hires in lsu modern era for baseball. One was never a pitching coach and the other was never a coach prior to landing the job at lsu.
