Batters that have dramatic shifts placed on them…

Should bunt the ball away from the shift every single at bat until the team re positions their players accordingly. If I was Beloso and especially with a Right handed pitcher who falls off the first base side, I would place the ball down the third base line every AB until they come off of that shift. I am not sure why this isn’t something that’s at least attempted. Make other teams pay for it.

Have you seen us try to bunt?

I’d like to see you bunt a 92-96 mph ball inside up the line with 2 tries.

We are not a good bunting team and also you really don't want to take the bat out of our hitters hands. Takes away from our approach.

So you can put the ball in play in every part of the field you want? Damn you must’ve played in the majors for long time..

I played college baseball back in the early 90’s and, because I had some speed, I would frequently bunt down the third base line, especially if the 3rd baseman was back. It’s not that difficult if you practice it.

good lord, man. Bunting isn't difficult.

These players are at an elite D-1 baseball school and should be practicing bunting every day.

Now sure, putting down a perfect bunt is hard. But getting a bunt down in a general direction of choice shouldn't be hard for a D-1 player.

By bunting? Yes.

I wish that's what is all that is required to play in the majors for a long time. I was pretty good at it.

I’d rather let my guy that has double digit home runs and proven he can get hits even with the shift take full swings.

It’s more about making a team respect every aspect of your game.

or, just hit it the opposite way. no need to bunt. But, to just continue to try to pull the ball in those situations is dumb.

For a player that has never had to bunt thru his youth…with an aluminum bat and a D-1 pitcher pitching him to pull the ball, it is extremely hard to learn and takes a lot of reps and time to do so.

It’s not like they are throwing 90+ mph fastballs on the outside corner when they have the shift on. They are pitching to it. You can’t just go the other way.

It looked to be as hard as lobbing a grapefruit into the Grand Canyon. It was screaming "Bunt!".

no, it's not extremely hard.

But if a guy isn't good at bunting, take extra time in the cage putting down 100 bunts per day.

Again, this ain't rocket science.

Stop with this nonsense. Can you put bat on ball? yes. Can you put the ball in play where you want it? With these pitchers? The different pitches, speeds, and locations. No. It’s not easy I don’t care who you are.

100%. If Beloso can run 5mph he could beat out a bunt with the absurd shifts they put on him

No, you must be right. It has to be a simple concept and the 99% of the teams in D-1 ball who don't do this are the ones that are wrong.
