I do credit the announcers in yesterday’s UGA game when they stated it is hard to find any one real weakness on this LSU team.

It’s been a fun ride watching them mature if you’ve been following along since the beginning. Head scratching to me how they went from a team that would dominate early (double digit lead) and then fade down the stretch (FSU,Houston, and even a couple others we held on to win). Then for awhile they flipped the script and would give up a big lead to the other team only to scratch out a win in the end.

It certainly has been entertaining watching the ebb and flow of each game.

So what say you? Where is the weakness?

Is it being a young team? I don’t think so, maybe early on in those losses, but they have certainly grown up fast and gelled in SEC play.

I guess the only thing I can say is that they are not a DOMINANT team. They do what’s necessary to win, but aren’t a team that will blow you out for 40 mins. I guess that’s not really too terrible at all for a ‘weakness’.

Enjoy the ride, and GEAUX TIGERS!

3 point shooting and defensive focus at times

Rebounding on the defensive end and consistency in shooting are what I see.

If they can quit having stretches of not making shots for 6-8 mins, they would win games by much more than they currently are.

They can play with anybody in the country.

Been addressed, but I’m shocked at Naz Reid as a 1 and DONE. Not what I was expecting from a 6’-10” big frame body. He is a phenomenal athlete, no doubt. But I was expecting dominant inside play from him and he doesn’t always go hard inside for the full game. To his credit, he can do that when needed and he can also give you much more than you would expect on the outside and ball handling (and Free Throws).

A veteran big man like Gafford from Arkansas will give them trouble. Luckily there aren’t many of this guys out there. Perimeter defense is spotty at times.

Shooting from the outside is there weakness but they make up for it by driving to the basket and getting to the free throw line and offensive rebounds.

Every team has weaknesses but I believe lsu’s Strengths are great and there aren’t many teams in the country that can take them away.

Defensive rebounding can be questionable

Interior defense against stud big guys

Shooting is streaky

Freewheeling style can lead to sloppy play at times

I think LSU is a very good team. If they can improve a few of those areas, I think they can be great.

Defensive rebounding and going stagnant on offense at times. They seem to fluctuate pretty heavily on offensive efficiency but overall they’ve been very good there all year, but defensive rebounding hasn’t been what it should be as big as this team is. It’s confusing because they are a great offensive rebounding team.

Agree on defensive rebounding. With this size they should not let opponents get so many second chance points.

Consistent Defensive focus.

Imo, no team has really stopped us on offense which may lead to losing defensive focus because we can do whatever we want on the other end.

I think we are too aggressive sometimes when contesting shots. Both KBW and Reid are guilty of it- sometimes you have to trust the primary defender when they are in good position so you can make sure your guy is boxed out.

Lack of a low post offensive game outside of offensive rebound put backs. They don’t seem to have anyone they can feed down low and make a good post move to score.

They have made up for it and then some in other areas. But if they had at least 1 guy who you can dump it to in the low post in a 1 on 1 situation and know he can consistently score. The team would be scary good.

I know this is a thread on weaknesses but this team is tough, play hard, and are well coached. Those things don’t have an off night. They also have multiple guys that any given night can take over a game. Not many teams can say that.

Agree 100%

Leads to too many fouls and offensive rebounds for opponents

Slow starts. Seems we like down in the first half of every game we play. I know we all think this team has Final Four potential but with the tourney being one and done slow starts do concern me

(1) Very inconsistent on defense. Make no mistake, UGA is not a great offensive team. Yet, LSU has made them look more than competent, twice. LSU shot 56% overall, 39% from 3 and 78% from the FT line. Rebounds were even and they only turned it over 8 times. Yet, with that kind of offensive efficiency they still were in a fight all game and only won by 4. That's because they were very inefficient on D. LSU CAN play good defense (2nd halves vs. AU and UK), the just don't CONSISTENTLY play good defense.

(2) Lapses of situation awareness. We all remember the failed alley-oop against Ark. But there have been more than a few occasions this year where this team seems ready to step on an opponents throat, only to make a dumb play to keep the opponent in the game. Usually in the form of an turnover on an unnecessary risky play.

Guard depth. One rolled ankle and we are in a bind.

Naz Reid doesn't play like a big man, especially on defense. This weakens our interior defense. I wish he played more like Bigby-Williams on defense.

He's good, but you can tell he's raw. He certainly has a high ceiling though, as long as he puts in the work.

This right here. They leave teams sticking around too long. It will bite them at some point. Matter of time before someone gets hot.

They need to Learn to step on the opponents throat when they are down.

No defense at all. We must out score teams. This will come back to bite us in the big dance.
