During the late 70's and 80's there was a dude in the stands who used to boom out "tiger bait" solo several times during the game. Would receive a round of applause. I seem to remember he died. Anyone remember the guy? I'm pretty sure I didn't dream this up.

Swat Mitchell, Jet Jones. The PMAC was a rocking place for about 15 years there. Bring back those times TJ!

Big Red was there at TS, the PMAC,and at baseball games. Dude was loud and proud! I loved sitting by him at baseball games. Sid Crocker did the public address announcing at the PMAC. I loved the way he'd call Dwayne Scales' name after one of his Astronaut dunks! SEC made him stop doing that, so it hacked us off.

Big Red! One of his jobs was recieving the Times-Pic for Baton Rouge distribution. There was a small building on Edison St. near Government St. that they stored the papers in, and Red would be in there loading or unloading the bundles.

I was no more than 8-10 years old, and a group of us kids would pester him until he would let out a chorus of Tiger Baits. You think it was loud in the Assembly Center, you should have heard him in an empty 30' x 30' room!

don't forget Leonard Mitchell...aka...SWAT. that '81 team was unreal. LSU could've had 2 NC's in 3 years if it weren't for injuries. 1979, LSU lost DeWayne Scales to injury and '81, Rudy Macklin breaks his damned finger. Macklin even says himself that the '79 team would've "beat Magic's arse" had Scales not been injured and claims it's the best team he'd ever been on.

He knocked on our door one afternoon to collect subscription fees. I was 8 at the time and thought that was the coolest thing.

Just to confirm, It was "Big Red". Would see him at the baseball games too.

Sorry to hear he passed.

Another super fan was the "Bengal Bard". He would write a poem that was posted in the Reveile ever Friday.

i was in law school for one semester and saw derrick taylor sink a 30 footer to beat charles barkley and auburn. but my greatest memory as a fan was seeing the pistol play in 2 games. it was my greatest memory of a live sports event.

Remember the Front Row Lunatics? They made the cover of SI. Those days were awesome. Great rivalry with UK. Spending the night on the ramp before a game and watching the US Hockey team in the gold. Place was berserk!

Daddy Dale and the boys from '77-'81. No place like the Assembly Center in those days, challenged Tiger Stadium atmosphere. Great times.
