How many wins do we need in SEC play to make the NCAA Tournament? 10? 11? 12?
1 down. Tiger fans, Let’s ride!

9-9 with our conference schedule will get us in.

Maybe even 8 plus a couple wins in the SECT
would be nice if Wake Forest has a good season too

The potential to make the tourney is not an overreacting, imo. The could gel and win 10 conf games. Or be sub .500 and make the NIT.
I'm a hoops optimist....have been my whole life and I didn't think we had a chance last night. It's amazing what MM has done with this group so far

This
And that is what I was wanting for this season
After last night I'm hopeful.

I figured our weak non conference schedule would force us to get a few more conference wins.
Last night was huge for the resume!

Depends on who we beat. Thankfully the SEC is pretty stacked this year outside of UGA, South Carolina, and Vandy so there’s not a ton of opportunities for bad losses. I’d say 10 would be the lowest we could go but would need a few more Q1 wins sprinkled in. 11/12 wins and I think we’re safely in

This. I can see us as a high NIT seed, tbh.

I agree with y’all, .500% in conference play, gets LSU in. So 9-9.

Lol we win 11 or 12 and we are a 5 or 6 seed. 9-9 would almost certainly do it and 8-10 would be right in the thick of the bubble holding your breath depending on conference tournament results

Sounds like 8 more SEC wins and we are in.

Not sure why some people think 9-9 gets this team in. Our NET is 75 right now, mostly from playing poorly against one of the worst OOC schedules in the country. We have to get that massively higher to have a chance at the NCAAT. 9-9 wont cut it. I have my doubts 10-8 even would. 11-7 would safely get us in, 10-8 would put us on the bubble. 9-9 we definitely get left out because our SOS is just terrible.
Also while I realize this is an actual over reaction thread, we need to keep in mind Arkansas was missing 2 key players last night in Smith and Brazile. Brazile is out for the season which is a big blow for them as their top bench guy and they dont know when Smith will be back so they were pretty short handed. I'm excited as hell we picked up that win last night but I'm still unsure how this team will respond to the difficult road ahead, it definitely isn't getting any easier coming up the next month plus.
Over the next 11 games the only real "breaks" we get are Texas A&M and Florida as the rest of that schedule (9 games) looks to be NCAA tournament teams. And we still have to play that A&M game on the road.

I tend to agree with this. I’ve seen 20 win teams get left out because of a bad OOC schedule.

9-9 would get our Net and KP up a good bit imo, last year Rutgers went 18-14 with the 354th(5th highest) OOC schedule finishing around 75th on KP and got a play in game.
Indiana got a 12 with the 319 OOC scheddy and USC got a 7 with a 290,
Now will 9-9 with a KP of 75 surely get us in? Idk but as of right now I think it would get us in. Especially if we can add an few wins against the rest of the top 7 in the conference(Avoiding a bad loss to the bottom 3 teams)

It depends on who those 9 wins would be against (and where), but I agree that 9-9 should give LSU a solid resume.
My thought going into SEC play was/is that if LSU could somehow go 4-4 in the first 8 SEC games, and beat Texas Tech at home, it would set up well for the final month of the season. IMO, the most realistic path to that 4-4 was beating Arkansas at home (check); winning at A&M and beating Florida at home; Then splitting the two home games against Tennessee and Auburn.
The downside is that in September it looked like the schedule got much easier in February beginning with road games at Missouri and Miss. St, sandwiching a home game vs. Alabama. Unfortunately, Missouri is on fire right now and MSU is better than expected.
The takeaway is the SEC looks like it will be a battle this season and a .500 record in conference play combined with a (hopeful) 12-1 non conf. record (even against a weak schedule) would still be a strong tournament resume.

Bro those bracket selection asshats don't give two shites about NET. We as fans overuse it. .500 in conference play and we are locked, no doubt.

Brady said 9-9. I guess that depends on how the SEC rates relative to other conferences in the NET though.
We do need to slow our roll though. I'm very happy with the win but the Hogs did not exactly impress me - they had two starters out I understand.
Lots of ball left.

Far cry from going 9-9 in the SEC in either case
Indiana did only go 9-11 last year but their NET was like 40, so we have a very long ways to go to get there. Not sure 9-9 does that either. Think some are just underestimating how big a hurdle our OOC is to overcome in conference play.
It's not just playing the schedule we did OOC but how poorly overall we did against it from an advanced stats point of view. It was a lot of teams we should have beat by 20+ and that happened once, and against one of the worst teams in the country (New Orleans with a NET of 355). I mean MSU played a slightly worse OOC than we did this year but they beat the brakes off most the teams they played, and their NET is currently at 39 as a result even losing last night to Bama at home.
9-9 might could sneak us in but the majority of those wins would need to be against the best teams we play in the SEC which I doubt would shake out that way. As it stands right now 8 games on our schedule are "meh" conference games and 10 are against tournament level teams. Say we go 6-2 against the "meh" teams and 3-7 against the tournament level teams...is that good enough? I kind of doubt it.
