You don't think they have what it takes?
They've got a lot of improving to do, chemistry, ft shooting, growing leads, etc. But I think they are good enough to beat anybody anyday. No?

I think for Darcy to be useful this year the game will have to dictate his minutes. If it's a slower paced game, that's perfect for him...but playing a running team like UAB, not the best situation for him.
I like Odo's size/athletcism but the guy has so little basketball skill.
You really just want Hammink to be...better
He has really good size and can guard mutliple positions, but his offensive game is just non-existent.
Everyone else can really contribute in almost any situation IMO.
Hickey
Stringer
Quarterman
Morgan
Coleman
Martin
Mickey
JOB III
That's 8 quality players deep. Then a few role players beyond that in Malone, Odo and Hammink.
I get a funny feeling Bridgewater wont be on the team this year or next IMO

This team is clearly putting it together. Quarterman played very well tonight. He played good defense against Frazier, and ran the offense well. Martin played well offensively for most of the first half. We do have a problem defending dribble drives, but Mickey has done a good job challenging/blocking those shots. Hopefully, that'll be cleared up before conference play.

I was happy to see tq bury two threes. If his shot comes along we will be very hard to stop when he is in the game. Also helps us in the next years if he is a threat to score because he will be hard to defend at his size

yea odo doesn't have much skill but he has played well the last few games and he is getting better.
8 players that can play in any situation is outstanding and then odo who i think can do a good enough job. Darcy and shane are for emergency use.

I suspect he'll be a much bigger shooting threat by the start of next year. He didn't have to shoot from outside much in HS. How about Hickey's shooting streak? He's gone off from behind the arc for the last two games. We're difficult to defend with him shooting well.
Shane needs to develop a corner 3-point shot IMO. He'll be called upon this season.

Checkin in late...but damn, we looked good tonight.

The team is shooting much better from deep as of late. Hickey has been on fire from deep. I really love when this team is moving the ball well.
Id still like to see us push it a bit more because i believe we could really throw up some highlight reel plays. Martin had that monster alley which was really nice

He could've had another one. He called for it, but I believe Hickey hit Stringer for a 3-pointer out of it instead

This team is really coming together just in time for SEC play!

Wow, just saw how UMass lost to FSU, they gotta be pissed. UMass down 3 at almost the very end. UMass player dunking it, clearly fouled too, ball dribbled around and as the UMass player was hit he held onto rim for a little extra time because he was off balance and the FSU player was right underneath him.
No foul called and basket waived off dude to offensive goaltending (horrible call).

I'm just curious why JJ hasn't pressed as much.
We do the 3/4 press every now and then, but I expected much more press.
Still happy though with where we are.

I agree, I really expected that to be a strength of this team. I thought the length would be killer in the press
Posted on 12/21/13 at 7:59 pm to heartbreakTiger
He may be saving it for conference play I guess

Thought the same thing. He's used it when it's seemed needed I think

I thought when the zone was fricking us, it may have been a good time to do it.
You do have to score though to set it up
I do like the zone offense in theory he is running flashing Mickey/JOB to the free throw line.
That opens up everything

I mean, that's quite a leap you're taking. I think we're top 25 caliber and I LOVE watching this team play, but let's try and be realistic.
