If Jobert is good defensively and is that good of a hitter, I'm all for it. Gio has showed signs of being really good, but has been injured often and has been terrible against left handed pitchers.

Our lineup needs to be based on the players that show they can hit against good pitching. We had several players that knocked the ball all over the park against mid week and #3 pitchers, but had no chance against the majority of SEC #1 pitchers and the better #2 pitchers.

I could see Morgan pulling a Cody Bellinger and rotating between 1st and CF depending on the matchups.

Jobert has played all 4 corner spots before. He hasn't been great at 3rd, but I don't think we're going to need him there anyway. I think he's a 1B/DH for us.

KEITH: Ya know I hate to brag but, uh, I did win eleven straight golden gloves.
ELAINE: [chuckles]
KEITH: I wouldn't have brought it up but since you mentioned it.
ELAINE: Ha, I didn't mention it.
KEITH: Well I won them anyway.
ELAINE: Well so what. I mean you played first base. I mean they always put the worst
player on first base. That's were they put me and I stunk.

It mentions him as a JUCO first baseman. You do realize there are multiple players at every position? It’s call depth and competition

Yes and no. First base is a different position altogether. A lot of elite fielders could be solid at 1B, but what Morgan did last year was very impressive. There is more to the position that catching thrown balls and grounders.

Unless Jobert got the same glove, Tre saved a lot of runs last year
Pretty sure the idea now that Paul is gone is to actually score runs, reducing the need for perfect defense and pitching. Get people that can actually hit on the field.

Although great at it, 1st base is not Tre Morgan's future and never was.

Thanks for the smart response @Naptime. If you actually read the article you'd notice I quoted the reference. Yes, he's JUCO but was referred to as "LSU's first-baseman". I am aware of depth and competition. It's obvious your comment lacked depth. Looking forward to the responses that actually have something to add. Go back to sleep.

I understand what you mean here, but I don't think that's totally correct. I mean we scored 6.6 runs per game last year which is pretty solid, we just were top heavy. So I think the idea is to be a better hitting team 1-9 instead of 1-5 while taking a slightly different approach sure. But absolutely not reducing the need for perfect defense and pitching. Playing elite defense is the key to making deep runs. I agree I would want Morgan in the OF to add a bat, but there still needs to be an emphasis on premium pitching and defense always.

I like this idea but I don't think Gio is being moved from CF. I could see Morgan in LF though.

With his speed and skill he will be all universe in the outfield. I'm for it.

The things that he does at first base have very little use in the outfield. The outfield is all about good reads and getting good jumps. With his speed, if he has those other attributes, then he'll be a great outfielder. But I don't understand why people keep talking about imagining his skills translating to being and amazing outfielder, when it's a whole new set of skills you need out there.

I don't believe in ever trying to fix what isn't broken.

It's why I said depending on matchups. Morgan, though a LHH, can still hit lefties. Gio isn't as good against lefties.

Morgan will be an outfielder in the pro's so he's okay with making the move. This was even talked about last year as inevitable
