Considering how well UCLA has been hitting everyone else, his performance against them wasn't half bad.

are all these leagues "wooden bat" leagues
Not all summer leagues are wooden bat but all of the NCAA sanctioned summer leagues are wooden bat.
There is a close relationship between the NCAA, the school coaches and the sanctioned summer leagues to help prevent over using the kids. I just had a conversation with ULLs head coach about this last week so I know the info is up to date.

Well I would really like to know why our pitchers seem to be shutting down the best in college baseball this summer and couldn't do that to pretty much anyone all year. I guess it does actually make me feel better about next season though

ESPN.com this morning...

We've been following the progress of LSU right-hander Anthony Ranaudo in his quest to regain vintage form, and the numbers are starting to suggest that perhaps the Boston Red Sox draftee is doing just that. Ranaudo made his second start in the Cape Cod League Saturday night, tossing 6 2/3 shutout innings for the Brewester Whitecaps. He allowed just one hit, walked a batter and struck out eight in narrowly outdueling Wareham Gatemen righty Matt Barnes, a potential first-day selection next June out of the University of Connecticut.
While Barnes was striking out 14 in seven innings, Ranaudo was adding to his early-summer streak of innings without allowing an earned run, which now sits at 10 2/3 frames. Furthermore, he's surrendered just two hits and two walks after his 90-pitch performance over the weekend.

Wooden bats have a lot to do with it, and most of our guys aren't playing against the best in college baseball. Plus we're still talking about small sample sizes, so you can't get too carried away yet.

Bump. Original post has a few updates.
Posted on 7/3/10 at 8:05 am to MOT
Early morning July 3rd bump after strong starts by Ranaudo (7 innings, no runs), Alsup (5 innings, one run), and Bradshaw (CG, one earned run) last night. And Gausman got shelled again.

Is this starting to be bad or no?
I thought the book on this guy was, he needed to take some time off and rest his arm.
Maybe he needs a good pitching coach

All I know is he's capable of throwing mid to high 90's. At some point within the next three years, he'll get that back.

Berry and Bruno are now added. Bruno isn't showing active. He may have just been an early season replacement player.
Berry had one rough outing that is inflating his ERA. He has been pretty good in his other appearances. His most recent loss was in an extra inning game against Harwich when he pitched the 9th, 10th, and 11th and gave up the winning run (Ott pitched two scoreless and picked up the win).
Nola and Mahtook are off the Cape for now as the Team USA trials begin tomorrow.

Thanks for all the updates. Its good to be able to follow the tigers in summer ball. Looks like a lot of the pitchers are being used in the same role they are used during our season. After looking through some of the players stats, it looks like Matty Ott also has 2 Saves to go with his 1 win. Just letting you know so you can update that on the front page. Thanks again for all the updates!

Joey Bourgeois will have Tommy John surgery, per his Facebook status.

Sounds like a roster casualty for next season

Ott has finally given up a run. Mormann didn't make it out of the first in his recent start. I know Gausman started tonight and lost, but the boxscore isn't posted yet. There isn't a box on Rittiner's team yet for today either and he probably got an inning. Everyone else should be updated through the 7th. Alsup, Bradshaw, and Ranaudo should all get another start in the next two days.

Ranaudo continues to dominate. Nola and Mahtook are at the Team USA trials. Reed took a loss in his start Thursday night after giving up 8 runs and walking 5 in 2/3 of an inning. Alsup and Bradshaw should pitch this weekend. Dozar has been MIA on his team's boxscore the last few days. Edward and Lasuzzo should be getting cranked back up in the Prospect league following the All Star break.

Extremely happy about this, hope he keeps it up.

Updated through Sunday's games. Mahtook made Team USA, Nola did not. I'm not sure if he is going back to the Cape or not.

man it's nice to see Ott back to form.
And glad Ranaudo is dominating. he should get top 5 or top 10 money. going to the cape cod league was an excellent decision

Mormann fails to get out of the first inning tonight, pitching 1/3 of an inning, walking 5, and giving up 4 runs. Ranaudo is scheduled to pitch tomorrow.

Updated through the 15th pending Gausman's west coast game. Ranaudo did his thing again today. Matty picked up a win by pitching 3 shutout innings in a 14 inning game. Mahtook was 3/7 through the first two Team USA games and I'll add his stats in once the series with Korea is over.
