re: Catcher position next year
Posted by pngfan on 7/26/11 at 4:07 pm to Holden Caulfield
Agree 100%. No position should be set in stone at this point, not even Nola at SS .Ross had some good moments behind the plate, but there is still much room for improvement. If you are gonna compare him to Micah Gibbs.... he's got a long way to go.

re: Was Brian Wilson this crazy at LSU?

Read a recent article about Wilson in MLB and he said he didn't want to be just known as another pitcher but wanted to give fans something else to know him by.

I wonder who calls his games ? I would guess it is the catcher. That will make a difference in a pitchers' outing for sure.

Jackson Slaid is doing great this summer. He reminded me a lot of Micah Gibbs in the way he framed pitches and setup for his pitchers. Wish he would get more chances . He certainly puts forth more effort behind the plate.
really, and you don't think that maybe he is facing some of the same guys from the sec? such negativity . what a waste of energy
"meatball fastball" ??? scouting reports 88-91mph
"meatball fastball" ??? scouting reports 88-91mph
Don't see any current at bats for Jacoby Jones. Anyone know why?

Glad to hear that a former Tiger is doing well at the next level. Keep up the good work Matty. I'm sure its quite refreshing to be in a more positive atmosphere.
Wow... while some chose to remember the few negative outings Matty had at Lsu, many of us will remember the many great things Matty did for Tiger baseball. Good luck Matty. You are a standout kid and a great role model .

hopefully, Vandy wins it all. Classy coach with great players.

Agree totally with you. This blame game is ridiculous. Takes a team to win and a team to lose. Move on. :wah:
ohhh nooo....Not this again. We lost 17 games and winning anyone of them could have put us there. :violin:
great to see coach with his daughter when she sang at the Box. What a proud daddy moment that he shared with us.

We need to find a closer for next season, 3 blown leads in the 9th inning is unacceptable
and... so is 10 stranded base runners in every game, and ... numerous runners thrown out stealing, and ... starters left in too long, ...and give away outs for pointless bunts ,...and errors. Wow, looks like there's not a player or coach who wasn't someway involved in this season...but join the coach and blame one or two guys.
Or maybe two since all 3 games were no "blown" by the same young man.
So would winning the two games we were shut out of in Alabama, the loses to Georgia, three to Vandy or any of the other 16 loses we had this season.
I agree with you . However, there are many threads on here about blaming one player for our season. That is just ridiculous unless that person plays every position and bats at every at bat. I guess I am just tired of the posts that keep blaming one young man who has always given his best to the team. Everyone of these boys are hurting and disappointed with the season. Whether its blasting them on a forum or to the media... its just not right.
Why is it that all everyone is blaming that one loss in the Ms St series or the loss to Florida as the only loses that affected our season. We lost 17 games in SEC play. What about the two games in Alabama where we were totally shut out? Winning ANY of those games would have made a difference. You all sound like our coach, blaming the season on one player or one game. We lost 17 games for many reasons.(lack of hitting in clutch situations, poor base running, way too many runners left in scoring position in every game, wasted outs on nonproductive bunts, starting pitchers left in too long... and the list goes on) I don't see how a season can be blamed on one game and one player. Seems like baseball is a team sport until we want to place blame on someone
A good coach can also finds ways to motivate his players, correct mechanical problems and keep the players' confidence high. These boys wouldn't be here if they lacked talent. Baseball is a game where you fail more than you succeed (batting average 300 is good).Sometimes, it seems our coach places more focus on "who is to blame for the loss" rather than work to correct the issues. That is where the "blame" goes on the coach.
