I'm guessing he's in the Mainieri dog house because he won't be around as much during football.
There was an article in the Advocate this past week that said Hampton is going to skip Spring football practice this year and stay with the baseball team.

I don't get the sense that Hampton is in Mainieri's doghouse.

I think back to when the national championship football team was going to Washington to meet with President Trump in the White House and Hampton informed Mainieri he was going to skip the trip so that he could get extra time in the batting cages before joining the baseball team and Mainieri told him go with the football team and enjoy the trip. It wasn't something to miss.

Maurice went with the football team and the night the team returned to Baton Rouge Hampton met hitting coach Eddie Smith at the batting cages around 10 PM for batting practice.

I'm pretty sure a player who does that doesn't wind up in Mainieri's doghouse over playing football.

I wonder if Maurice's dad has had second thoughts about not allowing his son to accept the $1.8 million signing bonus for baseball out of high school?

He knows. He just a contrarian. He is a slightly more intelligent version of Lester Earl.

Well, maybe he's not in the dog house. Maybe they just don't live in the same Ivory Tower that Bianco lives in.

Its best not to exaggerate so horribly when trying to defend your point. FYI.

I don't understand why Bianco is starting at SS either.

It's a head scratcher for sure. But, I keep reminding myself that Mainieri has a lot more information about the players than I do.

So, I don't obsess over it like some other posters do.

I’m really not trying to say he’s not fast yall. Seriously, he was safe by plenty so Russians point was valid. I was just clarifying the situation. But here’s the catch and where Hampton is. Safe by a lot? Yes. 10 steps? Nope. Just 1.

At this point, we have a decent amount of information as well though, just from watching the games. We can draw the conclusion that Bianco doesn't belong at SS offensively or defensively. Doesn't matter what he's doing in practice at this point. We have better options, or at least options that certainly can't be any worse.

I'm turning into the posters I don't like when it comes to Bianco. As a defender of Hughes for so long, Bianco is just too much of a head scratcher for me to handle.

I'm doing my best to avoid doing that, too.

Bianco at short has got to be one of the strangest coaching moves I’ve ever witnessed. It would be different if it was a game or two.. but it’s getting ridiculous considering he does not have a good glove and he is striking out half of his at bats

Tre and Crews are the foundation for some really good teams in the future.

Tre's glove is going to win a game or two each month, if it hasn't already. Never seen anything like him.

Agreed but there are still things we don't know that might be affecting Mainieri's decisions.

For example, I personally believe Arnold is playing through some arm pain that makes it difficult for him to make the throw from SS to first.

I don't have any inside info but I watched him quite a bit during the game Saturday and he was constantly flexing and shaking his right arm. That horrible 40 foot high throw he made to first base that not even Tre Morgan could catch is what caused me to start watching Arnold in between pitches.

If you noticed the next time he had a ground ball hit is way he underhanded the throw to first.

Later in the game he turned a double play and made a great hard throw to first so it's possible I'm wrong. Or, he just gutted out that throw to first through the pain.

I follow him on Instagram it may be a very slight exaggeration. There is a video of him moving down the 1st baseline on his story & there isn't a player on that team with that type of movement!! I'm not just a fan, I tell the truth. I call it like I see it.

True fans don't discredit good players. You sound like a team dad worried about a good player taking your kid's spot

Good work here Penguin Pubes. I would also like to add Edwards, Floyd, Hellmers and really all the freshman relievers have exceeded expectations. We have championship winning pitching depth.

I don’t think he is used to making the throws from second. The shorter throw requires more touch and timing so you don’t handcuff the first baseman. You can let it loose a little more on the left side,

Have you watched? Bianco is not a good shortstop. A few balls he has been late on and allowed an infield hit
