Jay paraphrasing just recently: "yea, he has a strong arm to turn double plays and basically only makes the routine play"

Is that "paraphrasing Jay" or is it Lester Earl twisting words into whatever you want them to be, like we usually see?

Mid season form. I will stay on record saying that I think Dugas surprises people with his defense. But I also think Nippolt is a very well rounded ball player, and may sneak up on people - he may be the most well rounded infielder we have not named Tre Morgan.

Leah Van’s article about 2B this week. I can’t access it anymore because of the Advocate view limit.

His isolated power is insane if he can get right. I think Dugas will play more OF & DH than he does in the infield.

And being streaky like he is, he will have to hit from the jump & be more consistent. He was one of the guys last year where Jay kept making little comments about taking better at bats

Either way, i definitely think he’ll mix in more because of his bat than his glove. He typically heats up with the weather. So i think when we are playing meaningful ball, he’ll be in the lineup

“Dugas does a great job with the routine play and has arm strength to turn the double play,” Johnson said. “So we moved him there. He was fielding ground balls yesterday, and I plan on doing the same today.”

Found it. Nothing damning there to me, but obviously not expecting him to be a gold glover

And Lester turns that into...

quote:

"yea, he has a strong arm to turn double plays and basically only makes the routine play"

But sure, LE doesn't twist words to fit a made up narrative.

If you are a baseball guy, you know what that means. If you’re not, you think that is a compliment lmao

Oh STFU.

“Dugas does a great job with the routine play"

This quote from JJ does not equal this.

"basically only makes the routine play"

That's your classic spin job. And then you move forward with your next go-to by saying we just don't get it because we aren't on your level.

Lester is able to tell us what the coaches actually mean because he knows ball better than the rest. Hell, Jay saying he can make routine plays should give you more confidence that he’ll play there. We couldn’t even do that last year.

Yeah, but he can only hit the routine pitch.

Lester is a big Dugas guy.

Defending his HBP rate as reliable on bases.

And to be fair the guy is a beast at getting hit by pitches. It beyond chance.

Everyone should be a big Dugas guy. He’s a solid defensive player at multiple positions that gets on base and can hit for power. All of that he has proven.
