Can assume Tommy White is your 3b and the transfer is your SS. CATCHER looks like same 2 guys with Travinsky maybe DH some.

Of Kling, Mac and several others in the mix. Seems like the freshman Brown has a good chance to play a lot this year either of or 1b. Pearson possibly 2b?

What say our resident baseball sharps who watched the Fall games?

Per Johnson's press conference wrapup, lineup will likely look something like this:
1B Jones and Frey battling
2B Pearson has worked here with Nippolt for defense
SS Braswell with Milam backing up 2B and SS, Milam probably most ready of the fr infielders
3B White
DH primarily Travinski but you also will have some left handed hitters to get favorable matchups
C Neal and Milazzo for defense, Jay emphasized that he doesn't expect Neal to be able to catch multiple games in a row
LF Bingham
CF Kling
RF Brown
with reserve OF's Larson and Ruddell, Mitchell did some nice things as well but is likely a year away due to depth

Pitching:
Jump, Hurd and Holman are likely weekend starters
I would say Herring, Ackenhausen and Loer can be utilized in a variety of ways
Cam Johnson showed out especially against ULL in scrimmage
Little had a decent fall and Moffett showed improvement with a high 90's repertoire
Dutton actually did very well this fall
Guidry will be back in the bullpen
Not sure how much Brown will pitch but Hurd specifically mentioned Anderson as one to watch as a freshman
Several other pitchers will be able to help as well

the k to walk ratio in scrimmages was impressive both against McNeese and ULL
sec play is a different animal but pitching depth is much greater this year even with injuries to Shores and noot limiting their availability
Coleman and Woods have battled injuries up to this point but should be able to provide some depth along with Bucknam and Primeaux

Great to see the depth there but we know there will be injuries. Looks like lots of options and good balance of LHP/RHP

The offense being relatively down will help the pitching staff get more innings since we're less likely to mercy rule everyone in the pre-conference.

Serious question:

Are you asking because you just assumed he would take over and haven't kept up with things?

or

Are you asking because you think his fall performance justifies him getting the starting spot at short?

Pearson is potentially moving from OF to 2B? Interesting

We have a ton of options. I think we may be a little LHP heavy as far as guys that look like we can trust them at this stage.

Moffett, Ulloa, Woods, and later on Noot have a chance to help balance that out.

Guidry is gonna have to hit to see the infield and he did not do enough of that in the fall to justify a starting position as of yet
I don't know if Johnson is gonna still let him try infield or strictly pitching, to be determined
Johnson didn't discuss that in the press conference and no one to my recollection even asked him about it

It's an effort to increase opportunities for guys that are ready to hit college pitching now. From a position group standpoint, there are just more of them in the OF than there are in the IF.

On the whole, the group of Pearson, Kling, Frey, Brown, Bingham, etc, are more ready than Guidry, Kucherak, Roellig, etc.

I think that's why we've seen Ruddell getting time at 1B.

C - Some kind of platoon of Travinski, Milazzo, and Neal...with Milazzo getting the lion's share of innings. Travinski will see time at 1B and DH, too.

1B - Jones, Travinski. Brown and Frey may also see time here but expect to mostly see Jones and Travinski unless one shows to be a liability.

2B - Pearson, Milam, Nippolt. I think you see alot of guys play here.

SS - Braswell. The end.

3B - Tanks. A few other guys have looked good here, but Tanks will play every inning he wants to here.

OF - Bingham & Kling. Alot of guys will probably play in the 3rd OF spot. Frey, Mitchell, Paul, Larson, Pearson, Zeb, Brown.

I get the impression that if you can hit, CJJ will find a place for you in lineup. So find our 9 most consistent hitters and scratch out lineup from that.

If Clay Harris can play 2B then Pearson will have no problem there.
