The coach loving Dutton is the farthest thing from the truth

Jay said Noot had a sore arm at the end of his high school season and they’re taking him along slowly. Said he likely wouldn’t pitch in a scrimmage this fall. That sound right? You said he was healthy.

I keep Milazzo, Neal, Jones. Frey as an emergency guy. Travinski would be gone

Travinski has looked too good this fall. He looks healthy. His arm is strong. And he can hit.
He’s 5 for 20 with 2 HRs and a double. His K rate is 5th lowest. OBP 0.423.

I think they have room for all of them. I think Frey can be a redshirt candidate. I know some of you don't agree with redshirting and say if someone is a redshirt they will never be good at LSU, but I think this is a scenario that could be the exception. Frey has a lot of potential but I think he needs a year to develop. He was a 2 way star in high school and I think a full year of him concentrating on baseball can help him out a lot. However I don't see how he can really contribute on this years team much. I would like to see them work him at 1B and also in RF. He was a legit QB in high school with a big arm and he has really good speed for his size. Just my opinion on having "5" catchers on the roster.

Great analysis and thanks for sharing.
The only “surprise” for me based on what I’ve been reading on this board is that Money is a lock. He was not good after his slight injury last season and seems to be having a mediocre to poor fall.

Money can be important for middle inning matchups on the weekend and to eat up innings midweek when necessary. We need those kinds of guys to save arms. They’re important. And he finds some movement, he can be really good. No reason to kick him out imho.

I’m pulling for him. It’s been all downhill since he strutted out in the cowboy hat last year.

Yeah. Can't see Travinski not on the final roster unless he chooses to leave on his own.

I think we'll see progression from Money. 6'7, 240, Wes will figure it out. As I've said in another post, I think Money has some issues between the ears on the mound, and Wes is perfect to work through that with him. That doesn't change the fact that he's a 1 plane pitcher without an out pitch, but Wes can make enough strides there and in his mindset to at least get some valuable usage. Money's ceiling is high - if it clicks, he could be a wipeout guy overnight.

LSU is a better TEAM without Travinski on the roster than they are with him on the roster. Read between the lines

Go watch video of Money and you will see why he gets hit so hard. Minor details that video exposes

He’s trying say Travinski is Jack Parkman

Dutton absolutely should have a spot on the roster based on last year’s performance.
We saw it. Jay won't leave him hanging. It's better for the young man to enter the portal and actually play than ride the bench of a mighty Fighting Tigers bullpen...

TL DR ALERT
I don't consider Beloso a lock, even though he's a free spot. I think Jay will lay it out on the table for him and let him make his own decision - he could find his way as a spot DH, he could just be a pinch hit guy, or he could find himself being just the boom box guy.
You have to look at Paul as a potential redshirt, with how crowded the OF is. Dugas, Skenes, and Morgan even play into the OF conversation. I would've said Zeb could be a redshirt but the kid is raking - you have to wonder if he's competing with Stevenson for a LH OF bat now.
The catcher position is interesting. Milazzo and Neal are complete locks. Then, it gets weird for me. Hayden has had a good fall and Jay likes him alot, but it will come down to what role Jay sees him in and how much more he wants than that - he could walk, hit a bunch of homers, and get drafted. The freshmen are raw - I'm sure Jay is watching closely to see if he can make some immediate use out of either of those stallions, but will otherwise have to have some talks with them about now and the future - it doesn't get any less crowded next year - Milazzo has another year after this, Neal's here for 2 more seasons after this, Mitchell (stud, draft risk) could slip in next season, Arambide could come the year after, then Serna - and that's all assuming we do nothing in the portal behind the plate. Flexibility to play 1B and OF will dictate how Frey and Jones are handled.
Applebey and Noot sound like redshirt guys. I think at least 1 of the freshman LHP will also be in that conversation. And, I really don't know enough about Bucknam yet.
Fontenot and Coleman will be medicals in my book, until further notice. I think some believe at least Coleman may have a shot at innings way later in the year. We still don't know fully about the health of Little and Hurd, either.
I think Dutton has a place here. Edwards and Hellmers are trying to find a spot.
When I speak of redshirt, I think that is a conversation that also involves the real possibility that they walk. On the other hand, I think Jay believes in and will pitch the hell out of staying.

In summary, I don't think Jay is running anybody off. The numbers will take care of themselves.

He will have to run a couple off

Interesting to hear about Travinski.
