Based on last 2 years RPI analysis, in order to finish at #20 in RPI prior to SEC tourney, Tigers must finish 9-3 at home (series against Tenn, Arky, and Bama, plus 3 midweek), 6-4 on road (Tulane, USC, Ole Miss, and Au).

This would be 36-20, 17-13, with SEC tourney to get host site.

Most likely scenario for 9-3 at home is win all 3 midweek, sweep one series, win one series, and lose one(Arky).

Most likely for 6-4 on road is win at Tulane, win series at SC and Au, lose series at Ole Piss.

As JP said 'it could happen'!

They are behind several teams in the SEC pecking order. It probably will depend on how many SEC teams they select and LSU doing it's part by winning some games.
Still time with this being the midway point this weekend plus the SEC tourney is always a big boost the longer you stay in it.
They really need to sweep Tenn and then you have some huge series against Ole Miss and Arkansas.

Our chances look about as bleak as they did this time last year.

17-13 will put us Top 3 in West. SEC could get up to 5 host sites, which could make it an interesting SEC tourney.

LSU RPI is #49 LINK

Potential to move up with series vs. three Top 12 RPI teams - Ark, Ole Miss, Auburn. Wins over higher RPI teams include A&M (#18), Vandy (#25), Mizzou (#26), Texas (#31) and South Alabama (#36). Bad losses are to USL twice (#80), Hawaii (#91), Notre Dame (#111), and SLU (#136).

Tennessee is #67.

Don't be so morbid, Clown.

There is always a chance, just look what happened last year.

It also depends on how the rest of the SEC shakes out.
We could go 16-14 and still finish third in the conference.

17-13, with SEC tourney
A 17-13 SEC record would likely give us a first day bye in the tourney and, if so, it would likely mean getting a regional host site.

Sell out every game the rest of the way, pack them in, sell a lot of concessions and the NCAA will come calling.

I don't like 36-20.

yeah, seems like less than 40 wins leaves you on the outside looking in.

The 36-20 in 2011 was with a 13-17 SEC record, and no SEC tourney invite. SEC only had 12 teams, and top 8 made the tournament.

Not to mention it was a total screw job. LSU no questions asked should have been in the tourney that year, that was complete bullshite. as far as baseball tournaments go, it was one of the biggest errors the committee has ever made.

As I recall, we had an RPI of 25 with an early sweep of Cal State Fullerton. Missing the tourney was the thing that kept us out of postseason play.
