The Laird catch

I was at the game when Mark Laird made that catch. As soon as Sean McMullen threw his hands up and looked back you could hear the crowd let out an "Oh, no!" Then Mark came streaking behind Sean to make the out. That boy could run!

If we are to be consistent, admins should ban you for derailing the thread.

ETA: Still waiting on that default…

Adam, thanks for this write up as always. It's a pleasure to read.

Milam is a freshman right? On 2nd and SS posts you have him as a sophomore.

Serious question, not trying to derail, are the ratings based on all of college baseball or just d1?

Is there any doubt what Whites power tool is at the college level? No matter what I put ell will lose it on principal alone.

If White say hits 26 HR’s this year (27 FR & 25 HR) he’ll be at 78 HR’s in about 180-190 games which would put him as the 6th all time HR leader and set himself close to the all time leader in HR/game.

You don’t distinguish between game and raw, and I wouldn’t disagree with Tanks being an 80 game power. Jones may be an 80 raw, but right now he’s probably closer to a 60 game.

No different than projected vs actual with the MLB scale. For reference, this was Crews’ ratings at the draft from real scouts:

quote:

While Crews’ 70-grade hit tool (signifying plus-plus) is his best attribute, the outfielder grades out as above average across the board. MLB Pipeline gave his power and speed a 60-grade and his arm and defense a 55-grade on the 20-80 scouting scale.
And this was Adam’s final ratings:
quote:

Dylan Crews
Power------80
Hitting------75
Speed------65
Fielding----75
Arm---------80
He nearly got it backwards…

The Foster catch

Just in terms of athleticism and difficulty, it's the best catch I've ever seen an LSU OF ever make. Dude is on a full sprint backwards with the ball tailing away from him and he makes the catch at the apex of his dive. Just insane timing.

Leon Landry robbing the homer in the 2008 super is second.
