Agree with most of this. The starting catcher will come down to who produces as a whole, both defensively and at the plate. Jay is known for being offensive minded but he has already hinted at considering the overall impact of the lineup decisions. I think Milazzo starts on opening night, but McManus gets a game or 2 back there.

I also believe we'll be good enough (and he'll be good enough) that Priester can catch all or most of the midweek games - maybe that's why he's hanging around, knowing that he's going to get 10-15 starts that can go a long way in his development or even win him a spot this year or next.

Wasn’t he drafted as a cf with great speed? Am I thinking of someone else?

Blaise Priester a very talented freshman who was added late in the process provides depth at the position.

I thought he left the program after the fall?

Injuries have set him back. He'll get some time at DH, potentially 1B down the road but that's too hard to predict right now.

There were rumors but he's been at every practice this spring working with the pitchers.

How big is the difference between McManus and Milazzo behind the plate? If McManus can’t hold on to the spot, we’re going to have a ridiculous number of guys fighting to DH.
