Gio seems to be having a good camp. I don’t know what’s going on with Dugas. I don’t know if they tinkered with his swing or is just in a funk. He’s proven he can do it and they need him to produce numbers similar to last year. I’m sure he will get it together

Did we potentially just lose someone from the staff? Bollman with a tweet about God's plan and some support comments from teammates. I haven't kept up much lately so maybe this isn't new or maybe he's not hurt. I don't even really know what type of role he was expected to play.

It was a bit of tongue in cheek, I know the gorilla ball days are in the last with the bats and balls they use now but this team is going to be so fun to watch at the plate

Jay wants to win the free base war
Dugas led the team in walks this fall. Yea, he hit .230 but his OBP was near .450
Gio was hitting .194/.293/.250 when i stopped calculating after about 17 intra-squad scrimmages & UNO weeked.

I’m perfectly fine with taking free passes to get on base. Eventually, those bases will be loaded and we’re going to have a power bat at the plate.

Eric Reyzelman’s fastball just clocked in at 96 mph here.

So what are y'alls all-offense and all-defense lineups? Not necessarily something expected to see, but just hypothetical for the sake of discussion.
I'd think for all defense lineup in OF you could do something like Bianco, Gio, Crews. With all the new pieces I'm less certain with infield but presumably Milazzo behind the plate, Morgan at 1b and Thompson at short.
Offensively, it's probably going to be closer to what we actually see, but you could pretty much pencil McManus at C. Thompson isn't a slouch at the plate but you could maybe swap in a bigger bat at SS. Bianco maybe? The rest would probably be similar to the actual shuffle we're expecting to see, but with less emphasis on the defense.

If anybody is keeping running stats, I'd love to peak. I had done it for a little while but lost them.

Dutton getting stretched out surprises me a little bit.

Any insight on Bollmans post earlier today???
Posted on 2/7/22 at 6:54 pm to ProjectP2294
Yea, I kinda had him pegged as a RS guy. And, maybe he still is, so they're letting him get some extended game work in. Then again, I don't know that anybody has pitched themselves off of the roster.
ETA: Jay and Meatball may just not have liked what they've seen from some of the "starters" so he's opening it up to some other arms. Lansville has looked like a weekend guy so that may open up the weekday spot.

I got nothing, the last time he pitched was the last scrimmage of last weekend, which would have put him on schedule to throw today. Im guessing he didn’t throw today for one reason or another.

I don’t know what’s going on with Dugas
If I remember right he struggled big time when teams figured out to pitch him low and away. But I also remember him exploding in the Oregon regional so I can't remember if he had figured it out or if they just didn't get the scouting report.

He was streaky. He has trouble picking up spin at times and will also try to cheat on fastballs. Prior to last season, he really didn't have a ton of college ABs, much less in the meat of the order. I haven't been out there but there is a big difference in "struggling" but seeing it well and "struggling" but all over the place. Beloso, for instance, went from seeing it well last year but "struggling" to all over the place.

I still maintain that the last staff stunted his development by sending him to the cape cod league to sit the bench for most of the summer after he spent most of his freshman year hurt. He should have been in a league where he could play every day.

You had Dutton as a RS or Bollman?
Posted on 2/7/22 at 7:56 pm to Naptime
Dutton. I thought Bollman would contribute.
