I really think the light is going to come on for Broussard this year but with that being said I can’t overstate how great it is to have guys like Dugas come in and make a serious push for the position.

I’m as excited for the future as I’ve ever been

I as the other people, need to put this in my posts so I can find it. Can’t wait to see your analysis of the fact that we have 2 outstanding defensive shortstops at SS and Third... oh, and the best outfield in the country. I’m so ready for this season

I know a guy who played on the 2009 squad, and he said they had an informal reunion last week in BR before some of them went off to pro ball. He got some inside scoop on this team. He said that Hal Hughes is a different hitter this year, so forget about him struggling at the plate. He also said that Bianco was the young infielder who is really pushing for playing time, and that could come at second base if Broussard struggles.

DiGiacomo is going to be a special player, but he is a year away.

He was told that this is the best hitting team of the CPM era, and they are really excited about the lineup top to bottom and a few on the bench. Further - and this from a 2009 guy - this team is better than that one.

It might be all inaccurate, but this is just what I was told.

That's exciting to hear.

Here are some tweets from Kendall Rogers just to illustrate that LSU isn't the only school with pitchers that get injured:

This is rotten news for 24th-ranked #Clemson. Strider was projected to serve as the Friday night starter as a sophomore, one of their best arms. Also, blue-chip Fr. RHP Carter Raffield (another big power arm) and So. C Drew Donathan will miss the season.

INJURY NEWS: @RiceBaseball RHP Roel Garcia has Tommy John surgery this past Tuesday and will miss the 2019 campaign. Garcia is a power arm who has had some tough luck. Injury had lingered from last season, I’m told. #mlbdraft

Impossible as he's not on Adam's depth chart at 2B.

Calm down. You must control your excitement and realize that this team will disappoint you... by at least making it to Omaha. Sheesh.

Hasn’t Bianco been pretty sketchy fielding wise? I realize second isn’t exactly a tremendously difficult position to play but CPM has always had pretty stellar defenders in place there.

I don’t see him getting away from that now.

Dugas is a much better fielder than Bianco at 2B

From what I’ve gathered Bianco’s glove is really the only thing holding him back but I don’t know if that means his glove is bad or just not as good as some of the other guys.

This is the first year I haven’t been able to go to scrimmages to see for myself

To expound on why I don't have Bianco even listed at 2B right now...he's not as polished as Hughes, Smith, Broussard, and Dugas defensively.

Bianco is hitting very well this spring and could very well start at 1B or 3B throughout the season, heck he's been getting multiple starts at 1B with the first team.

But college baseball is very fluid with the way they lineup people in the field and is the reason the coaches recruit multiple shortstops. The infield would shuffle well before Mainieri inserted someone he didn't think was ready up the middle. Would I ever start Bianco at 2B or SS this year with the other options this team has? Absolutely not.

To be fair, the sarcasm was directed at the 3rd hand report from a 2009 player as much as it was directed at you.

While I'm sure the coaches are happy with Bianco, he's barely gotten a look at 2B and Broussard isn't the only returner who could lose a spot if he doesn't produce.

I do agree and I like that both 2B and 3B are being pushed by freshmen.

I think they could get away with one (Hughes/Broussard) not producing at the plate but there's no way he lets the 8 and 9 holes both be sub .250 hitters with no power potential.

Let’s go with the hypothetical situation that neither of them produce.

Surely Broussard would be the first one out of the lineup. But what do you do then?

Do you just stick Dugas at 2nd and roll with it. Since he gives you a similar player as Broussard with his speed.

Or do you roll Hughes over to 2nd and stick Bianco in at 3rd?

Just based off of reports I would think you roll Hughes over and go with Bianco at 3rd but I could be completely off base there.
