I think Garza is still having knee issues.

I firmly believe LSU will turn this season around like they typically do, they just need to get fricking healthy.

I also think it may be time to shut down Marceaux. Something is clearly not right with him.

Storz and Hill coming back from injury will be a welcome addition to this team.

At this point, I don’t think it’s too early anymore to officially label Saul Garza a bust.

Perhaps he’ll come around late. I’ve seen it happen before. But right now, I’m not optimistic.

I'm not worried about the pitching at all, they'll get guys back and start to get in a groove.

The hitting and Sean Ochinko is what scares me.

Yea the hitting has really been inconsistent, but it’s not just the guys at the bottom of the order, it’s your leaders like Duplantis and Cabrera who are really struggling.

I wonder if Cabrera’s tendinitis is acting up and he is just trying to tough it out.

I have a few thoughts on #1 (The Bad).

This is just my opinion, but Duplantis looks like a hitter that made a concerted effort to work on hitting with power in the offseason in order to impress pro scouts. His home run numbers have gone up considerably this year and his hits and outs seem to be primarily to the right side. His strikeouts have gone up and his avg has gone down. While a .290+ Avg is nothing to sneeze about, it’s low for duplantis. He is not looking to go to the opposite field as much, which is what made him such a good hitter, and his avg has suffered accordingly.

Cabrera seems to have hit that sophomore slump. You’re right, last year he got hotter as the season got warmer, but if he keeps being a sucker for balls at his shoestrings then he will continue to struggle like others have. I really hope he makes the adjustments necessary to go on a run similar to last year.

That's what leads me to believe it's not just "the players"

Antoine has grounded out more times to first base than I recall his three years here...he's pull happy right now.

Cabrera has swung out of his shoes it seems every other at bat. It's obvious they're trying to launch balls to right.

It's not needed right now.

You put in to words a lot of my thoughts.

I don't think he's fully healthy.

Could be. I was thinking that maybe the pressure of chasing Furniss' record got him off his game but maybe he's changed his approach to try to be more of a power hitter. I say be who you are and just get better at what you do well. No need for him to try to become a slugger.

That's what's so frustrating.

I was watching the Miss St game on Sunday and while Magnum is chasing the same record he's playing much looser. He knows what's worked for him the past three years, he beat out an infield single the first at bat of the game and later scored.

I’ve noticed Cabrera swinging at pitches below the zone lately, even before he was out. He wasn’t doing that at the beginning of the year, nor at the end of last year either. I wonder if part of the problem with this team is our better hitters are pressing too much to try and make up the difference.

I’ve checked out. Too much going on personally. Didn’t see a pitch of the Mizz series. Pray for me.

I said this in a different thread and got blasted LOL...don't know baseball yadayada, his timing is off because he was out etc, etc. Maybe some of that is true but I've been watching Cabrera play for awhile and he doesn't look like the same hitter to me. He has always been a high contact guy and is now a high strikeout guy(1 out of every 3 ab's) this season. So I agree PP I just don't think he is fully healthy.
