His control is way off compared to last year. He's getting behind hitters a lot more than last year.
This has been going on for a while. He had a poor fall according to Mainieri at the start of the year. Mainieri's position was that Ott is a gamer and needs the challenge of a tough situation to pitch his best. The truth is that if he's pitching ahead in the count, he can throw that slider off the plate. If he's behind, he can't.
You are just rationalizing it because it makes you feel better to have someone to blame. Carry on. The entire team has fallen apart...not just Ott.

I'm so tired of Maineiri with this LF pitcher to LH batter/RH pitcher to RH batter crap. He should have left Bertuccini in. That crap is way overrated in College Baseball. I'm now convinced that PM is a much better coach when he doesn't think.
