I think I remember an opposing player flipping his bat on a hit he thought was gone but was in fact a deep out. I lol'd.

I don't know why the shift bothers people. You have 9 guys on the field to defend. 1 has to be a pitcher and 1 has to be a catcher.. You should be able to position the other 7 however you like..
The whole point of a an actually hitter is to hit it where they aren't. Then hit it away from them..
Even before the shift, teams were bringing an outfielder into the infield for certain defensive situations. I don't want to see any more rule changes. Learn how to take advantage of different defensive alignments..
