The thread is about Bama's rush defense (and an assumption that they are overrated because of a weak schedule) and Bama's rush defense dominated Arkansas.

This is a great game plan against teams that can't handle the physicality, but lately, it hasn't been working vs. Alabama.

UA has the size and strength to go toe-to-toe with the best power-running teams. I favor a more varied, multidimensional attack (at the very least, as an option if you find yourself stymied in the power game), which is something that could be accomplished through the air, or with misdirection/deception in the running game (although I think this is something that needs to be consistently a part of an offense to be polished to the point of reliable, efficient, decisive execution). In my opinion, the power-running game is the best foundation that an offense can have, but it shouldn't exclude strategical variations that play off of it, and work to complement it -- otherwise you're limited to a slugfest, and the Alabama D is built for slugfests.

Yea a power run game plays right into Alabama's strengths defensively. Just for example, the last 4 games vs Alabama, LSU's rushing game;

1.4 ypc
2.8 ypc
3.6 ypc
1.4 ypc

I'm not predicting similar results or anything, but it's going to take way more than 40 runs up the middle to produce against Alabama.

Not the formula for success against Alabama. You probably won't even run 55 plays if you run the ball that much.
