Receipt for gun doesn't clear him. The article was posted yesterday, not old news.
"Upon searching the vehicle, one of the officers found the gun and a plastic bag holding marijuana that was in the car's center console. Dunaway said the marijuana was his and that a friend named "Brandon Chicken" had given him the marijuana. However, Williams was arrested because of not having a permit for the gun."

Did he tie him up and blow it in his face against his will? I don't understand the argument, "but officer, it wasn't mine." If he smoked it and would fail a drug test then he violated team rules, not to mention broke the law. How does this stuff fly? What exactly earns you a suspension these days?

It was my understanding he had a receipt showing he purchased the gun, but not a permit to carry.

Last time I checked smoking weed was still against the rules. It ticks me off that LSU had to dismiss one of our best defensive players ever for drug tests. But when players get caught with weed it's no big deal. Alabama must not drug test at all.
